I think everyone needs to stop looking up and reading articles about this family. Every google hit that is given to an article of theirs just encourages more blog postings and even more articles. The news needs to stop, no matter how interested you may be in this train wreck.

Support really needs to stop going to families who opt to have dangerous births that sacrifice the safety and well being of the children. There are enough health issues surrounding premies in a single birth, from respiratory to brain function, nevermind in twins+.

They said on the radio today that the CA Health Board (or whatever it's called) is looking into the ethics and morality of this. They're apparently not to thrilled about it, either. I can't believe TLC has already offered her a TV show. That's the most sickening part, to me.

I don't know what it is that makes me so sick about this family. Maybe the fact that she already has 6 kids and is living at home with her mommy? I have no problem with Jon and Kate plus 8...They had 2 children, and were making a modest income, and they even stated, they wanted ONE more child, giving them 3, but ended up with 6....That doesn't bother me at all, but already having 6 AND living with your mommy? Where's your ethics and your sense of sanity woman!? No one in their right mind can support, and feed, and love 8 premature infants, AND 6 other children! Especially in today's economy! Obviously she can't afford to care for the other 6 and herself on her own, if she's living with her parents...AND she's unmarried! I'm just totally appauled!

Yeah, that to me is one of the worst parts.. pretty much on the same thought level as the mom. Yeah, go ahead & encourage this type of thing, so someone can try for 9 & maybe boot her show off only to have their own. Sheesh. Last i knew having more kids at one time wasnt a competition, having a healthy baby truly is! Perhaps she should be running a marathon or donating blood, or something else that would at least help a cause instead of costing everyone else more money out of their pockets.

I really hope if this lady gets all kinds of help that she at least TRIES to put some effort into giving back, but from the sounds of it, thats doubted & nearly impossible.

I agree. That's all I could think about reading through this thread. Having that many kids that early has opened them up for all sorts of physical and mental health problems.

Ok, so I've skimmed through all the pages here and have my two cents to add. This lady lives off the state already with 6 children. 6 children alone are a lot to care for as well as being very expensive. I have only 2 and it's amazing how much they cost to feed, clothe, etc. She has 8 frozen embryos and feels that they are alive and need to be implanted. She now has 14 kids - ridiculous! She lives with her mom and dad in a small home that was already too small for their needs. Grandma and grandpa now share the burden of trying to care for all these kids. Grandma said in an interview that mom won an insurance settlement of like $165,000 for a work-related injury and grandma never got a penny of it. I can imagine that money went quickly in her situation, but where did the money go? Does anyone know? Did she spend it responsibly or was this money used for the implantation? Having a large family is not the issue, being able to responsibly care and provide for this family without burdening family or the state is the issue. As grandma said, she could have donated the frozen embryos to childless couples. This lady went too far and I wonder how much those around her are going to have to pay for her selfishness?

And to top it all off, she already receives almost $500 in food stamps, 2 (or is it 3?) of her current kids get disability for I think like ADHD and autism and one has a speech disability with some autism (so she's roughly getting $3000 a month for that)... I'm not positive whether ADHD and autism and that kind of stuff are genetic, but what if all of these new 8 kids end up with something like this?

I like this quote (from the linked article I posted above)
"It appears that, in the case of the Suleman family, raising 14 children takes not simply a village but the combined resources of the county, state and federal governments," Los Angeles Times columnist Tim Rutten wrote in Wednesday's paper. He called Suleman's story "grotesque." My sentiments exactly.

As for what happened to that $165k disability money (again, from the article posted above)
Some of the disability money was spent on in vitro fertilizations, which was used for all 14 of her children, Suleman said. She said she also worked double shifts at the mental hospital and saved up for the treatments. She estimated that all her treatments cost $100,000.

And then, to make this whole situation even BETTER
She already owes $50,000 in student loans, she told NBC. She said she will rely on the school's daycare center and volunteers.

Whatever happened to living WITHIN your means?

So what's with the hospital that delivered these darned babies asking for a government bail-out for the costs associated with delivering these babies?

Ummm...why should I as an American taxpayer have to pay for delivering babies that should not have been had in the first place. I say, bill the doctor that created 'em.

I say, bill the doctor that created 'em.

I agree. This woman is obviously mentally sick, and her doctor should have recognized that, along with the fact that she was financially and otherwise incapable of handling anymore children. It's disgusting what people will do for fame.

...and I love how she saved up $100k for the fertility treatments, yet somehow she's on food stamps, welfare, kids on disability, $50k in school debt....does anyone else see a problem here? That poor mother of hers, paying for everything and watching all the kids.... I know they're family but if I was the mother I would have stopped helping the daughter a long time ago. You get yourself into the mess, you deal with it yourself.

Amen to that!

That's right....the mother of the lady (and I use that term loosely) that had these kids is doing nothing less than enabling her to tread all over her and everyone else that is willing to help her. She's abusing the system and everyone involved.

The website that has the photos that surfaced.. I was looking through the photos and all of a sudden it goes from the pregnant mom to the factory where The Terminator bodies are built.. I was so confused, because I thought they were trying to make a statement about popping the kids out like a factory.. Turns out, it just goes to the next article... Oops :p

People should start writing to TLC and objecting to a potential show. They won't do a show if they're going to lose viewers.

i can't belive this woman has the balls to ask for help from CA she's the one who got herself preganat she should pay for them if she can't pay for them they should all me taken away and given to goo homes. god i hate ppl like this.

I talked to my friend about doing this as well. Actually, TLC should be ashamed of themselves about the families that they portray as role models.
