Laurie, I get what you are saying, but AI hasn't been very good about marketing its winners. Kelly Clarkson is a success, Carrie Underwood is in her own genre, but Reuben, Fantasia, Jordin, Taylor? I haven't heard those names since they won the show. I'm not saying they aren't in the industry at all, they just aren't stars.
Peggy, I must respectfully disagree with most of what you said.
I really do think the producers want Adam to win. He is the first true star Idol has ever had. They stuck him in the bottom two last week to make sure people do not get lazy about voting. As for Adam himself, theatrics are a part of what make him so great. He isn't just a phenomenal singer, he is a performer. Also, all of his performances are not theatrical and "scream-filled." Mad World and If I Can't Have You are the two that leap to mind. If I Can't Have You was just beautiful, heartfelt singing.
Danny, well, I find him very very boring. I didn't watch his performance last week, so I can't judge on that, but from his other performances, I don't get anything special from him. He is a good singer. I would rather have him sing the Noah's Ark song at my sunday school in place of the horrid lady we currently have, but I would never think to buy anything of his, or go to any of his concerts. That's actually how I feel about most of the contestants Idol has had over the years. Good singers, but not great artists. Adam is a great artist.
That said, I do think accusing him of milking his wife's death for votes is one of the lowest things "idol attackers" have ever done.
Lastly, if Adam wins, I hope you realize it won't be because of Vote for the Worst. Vote for the Worst chose Bo Bice, and he didn't win; it chose Scott Savol, and he didn't win. If Adam wins, it will be because A. he gets the most votes, or B. he doesn't, but the producers really want him to win. Personally, I think it will be A and B.
