Just an update - Tia is doing very well, she can stand on her hind legs now and also eat food using both hands! She's also become quite friendly as long as you stay on "her terms". My 3 year old cousin came over on Saturday and asked to pet Tia, I was a little nervous but said okay mainly because the 3 year old is very calm and good with directions. She pet Tia on the head and Tia was completely fine with it! I was very proud of both her and my cousin. :)

I'm planning on getting her x-rayed again the first week of April - by then she will have been on cage rest for about 4.5 weeks.

that is great news. i hope she is healing up and will soon be able to move to a larger cage and be more of a diva princess than a cranky princess. ;)

Update again!

Tia is peeping constantly, loves her TV, she seems to be using her leg in her hospital cage (i.e. not favoring it anymore). She always wants out, she is sick of being in that little thing! But I can't let her come out, obviously. I was wondering, do you guys think I can let her dust herself yet? She doesn't like it when I dust her, I don't think I "do the job right".

Pictures!

Leave me alone, I am trying to eat flower salad!

Let me come out, darn it!

Nope, you don't want to undo all the good you've done so far. Just keep dusting her yourself. Keep doing what you're doing. Keep her confined and don't let her dust herself until after you have the xrays redone.

Speaking of x-rays, when does she go back in for them? And, if/when you get them, will you please post? I want to see how she healed! I don't know if that sounds odd, but I am very curious about what she will look like when she is healed up. :D

And, she'll be find without dusting herself for awhile. Don't worry! :)

Yay for her liking the flower salad. :D

I am so happy to hear she is doing so well. I agree with meanie, you definitely don't want to undo all the progress you have made by her flailing in dust. It sucks, but she will look beautiful again soon. <3

Okays, no dusting yet!

She will be x-rayed again the first week of April, and yes of course I'll post the x-rays. :)

By the way, Crysta - she LOVES the salad! I put a little pinch of it in with her food every night or every other night and she goes right to her bowl when I put her back in and eats it all up! She likes the dandelion heads best, but she won't touch any of the (rose?) petals. Thank you so much for that stuff, she really does love it. :D

The "dandelion" is actually chamomile. ;) And yes, the other is rose. I'm surprised! All my guys here can't get enough rosebuds.

my guys are pita's and while most of them like either the rose buds or the petals......a couple of them won't touch them! one of my boys doesnt like crushed rose hips. weirdo.

i am so happy tia is feeling better. you are doing an amazing job and april will be here before you know it. hopefully the xrays will show the bones fusing together and miss princess tia will be on the road to a full recovery.

She IS definitely a doll even if she looks a little greasy, lol.

I'm so glad to hear she is doing better. She is a pretty little thing.

Well, it has been a little over a month. I am getting ready to make the appointment to get her x-rayed again either today (hopefully) or Thursday, as those are the only days I have off this week. I will update with the results later, hopefully with pictures!

Well, that was interesting. They are keeping Tia for a few hours until the technician gets there and can get her radiographs. In any case, I told them everything that has been going on, including the metacam that she's been on (.005 mL twice a day). They got upset about that because I hadn't contacted my previous vet about it, and told me that they were supposed to "dismiss" me as a client but they weren't going to because I didn't know.

Or something along those lines. I don't know, I felt very rushed and I'm very nervous waiting for the phone call that she's ready to go pick up. Tia got very overheated and her ears were a very dark pink and I am just worried to death that she's going to struggle for the technician and re-break her pelvis.

I don't know. Gah.

that makes no sense.......why would they dismiss you and even if they were considering it, why would they tell you?!

the waiting is the hardest part, i had to leave my little guy once for the day and i was SO nevous. hopefully they are skilled and you will be picking her up in no time and giving us all a report of good news!

You can have more then one vet. I have 3 that I go to for the chinchillas. And that does not count E vets either. It is always good to have back-up

I think if the vet has that kind of attitude, I'd dismiss HIM. I use whatever vet I feel like using. Telling you they are going to dismiss you because you used another vet is just stupid. They need to get over themselves. People get second opinions all the time, on themselves and their pets. Pfffft.

I hope the x-rays give positive results. Keeping some digits crossed here.
