I actually do a pellet free day once a week I find it benifical , I have heard of some people only feeding a mix of different hays and no pellets at all as it is suppos to mimic the natural feeding habits of chinchillas better vs feeding processed pellets that are more refined and man made.

My one chin nighwish will nap on us so it's not unheard of I wouldent worry unless he isn't eating,drinking or pooping some chins are very docile like that but just keep an eye on him to make shur

i know about those shelves its actually an old photo the shelves have been coverd and or replaced altogether kadaj came to me with a plastic super pet cage that was to small even for a very small rat and i bought this cage as an emergency replacement befor he chewed his way out of the old one

Are local pet depo keeps both chinchillas and there baby ferrets in a critter nation cage well stocked with food water and a hidy hut they keep there cages super clean to and know where the animals are from and know aprox how old they are by a week or so they feed oxbow to all there small...

From a pet shop that was shut down -they don't need hay but give them fresh veggies and pellets and should have a large wire wheel and it's ok if they chew plastic its like wood and you should leave there dust bath in there cage all the time , oh and they should only be in male female pairings...
