    My heart - Scampy

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my best little guy this week, too...maybe they can keep each other company wherever they are.

    Hero 02/29/2008-05/11/2011

Our only chin, Hero, passed away yesterday at the age of 3. Hero was in his own home. He went to sleep on his favorite blanket and never woke up. He had an advanced case of malocclusion and so was on painkillers, so we hope he wasn't in any pain when he went. He was a sweetheart, super...

Need to feel like we're doing the right thing...chin with malo.

I just want to let everyone know that Hero passed away in his sleep this afternoon. We are devastated to see him go, but are glad to know that he was not in pain and was able to go while curled up on his blanket in his home. I think he preferred it this way. Thanks again for all of the kind...

Need to feel like we're doing the right thing...chin with malo.

Thanks everyone. The kind words and support really do help. I woke up this morning (as I have most mornings) forgetting that he was sick, and expecting to see his little face pop out of his tube begging for breakfast. Finding him instead curled up in the corner with no energy and little...

Need to feel like we're doing the right thing...chin with malo.

My black velvet, Hero, is a little over 3 years old. He started showing signs last month of tooth problems- a slight drool, some pawing at his mouth- so we took him to the vet as soon as we could get him in. Here's what's been going on: They took a look at him; short of a few sharp ends an a...

    The Story of Stuff

Hmm. I don't want to be inflammatory, but I'm curious where your class got its facts...especially the one about forests. What's the actual number? In acres? Where's the documentation? I ask because we've apparently been looking at some very different statistics here. I've also heard Mr. Rush...

    The Story of Stuff

I thought that too, at first. After watching my parent's and older family member's reactions to the video though, I'm thinking that it was pretty cleverly designed to be jargon-free and easy to understand to those people that may have never been introduced to these concepts before. That's...

    Vegan vs Vegetarian

I'm on my way to becoming an unintentional vegetarian, methinks. I've been growing more and more aware of the crap they put in foods, and the massive amounts of hormones and fillers in meats..and so have been weaning myself off of eating meat at every dinner. So far I've cut back my red meat...

    What won't you eat?

I have a "cute rule" when it comes to food. I don't eat anything that I think is cute when it's alive. This rules out things like veal, duck, goose, and lamb, as well as most "exotic" meats. I'm also starting to not eat meat that I can't identify, tell where it came from or what else is in it...

    The Story of Stuff

I considered posting this under "media," but I'm actually more curious about people's ideas and decisions than I am about discussing the film itself. Administrators- if you think I should move it to media let me know! If you haven't seen this or heard of it, this is a film that is a must-see...

    Another strange Pico behavior.

Mine shakes his head back and forth slightly and quickly when I'm holding him for more than a minute. It's only when its obvious he doesn't want to be held anymore...and my husband and I always think it's his way of saying "no no no no no" :D

    Lonely Chinchilla?

Mine barks occasionally, but we've learned that all he wants is for us to come say hi and talk to him, maybe give him a scratch under the chin. Sometimes it's because his food bowl is empty and he wants more food. The little wimpering could be anything from curious noises to lonely noises to...

Foaming at mouth - please help me

I hope you have been able to take her to an emergency vet (or reg. vet, if there are ones nearby that are open sundays) and that if you haven't, you are looking for one! She needs vet care, no questions about it, and fast.

    Interested in a chinchilla

I agree with all the advice that has been given here...don't let it deter you completely though, as it is all meant as things to take into consideration. When you're prepared and set up for a chin, they can be (I would argue) some of the most entertaining and lovable pets you could ask for. They...
