:hair: What is going on with Oxbow? I feed this because my 2 chin boys are just thriving on these pellets, there is NO waste at all, and it's a great product. I also sell it here because I can get coupons for free shipping or x amount of dollars off certain websites. I really don't sell it to make money, for the most part it has covered the cost to feed my 2 chins. Well I don't know where you guys get your Oxbow but I just found out today that most sites have increased the price and some as high as 26.70%. I usually get the 50 pound bag and even at chinchillas.com the shipping on 50 lbs. is $22.35! Ugh! None of the feed stores by me sell the pellets cheaper than $13 and thats for 5 pounds. When I called about it, 2 places told me that the price increase was due to the "manufacturer". Does anybody have any inside info? Where do you guys get your Oxbow pellets?

You must be imagining it Sandi. When Oxbow said they were no longer selling through their site, people were assured you could get it just as reasonably through other websites. I mean really, Fosters and Smith only doubled the price of a 50 box of hay. I don't know why I don't consider that reasonable.

If you buy 50 pounds at a time, call Oxbow themselves and place an order over the phone. After you place your order, make sure you let them know how thrilled you are that they are now only going to be selling through retailers and not through their site.

That's why I don't sell Oxbow, I just can't find it reasonable enough to make it worth it. If I could, I would sell it since it seems like those who use it love it! And if it were more reasonable, I'd consider it for my girls.

Yup, I'll make sure I'm sleep deprived without coffe when I pick up the phone to call them. I'm at my **** then.

I just saw at the feed store by me Oxbow 5 pounds for $8.50 and they just stocked the shelf. I wonder what they want for a 50 pound bag.

My last three 50 pound bags averaged at just a bit under $1.00 per pound and that included the shipping.

I buy Oxbow at wholesale price, and was told by the wholesaler that Oxbow increased price on everything last month.

Last time I bought a 50 lb bag of Oxbow, about two months ago, the cheapest place was Dr.s Foster and Smith. It came to slightly over $1.00/lb with shipping. It was cheaper than ordering directly from Oxbow themselves. I only have 4 chinnies and even though it's expensive, I can still afford to feed them Oxbow. If I had too many more, I probably wouldn't be able to feed Oxbow to them.

Anyway, I suggest Dr.s Foster and Smith if you still want to stick with Oxbow.

Drs. Foster Smith raised that same 50 lb. bag from $59.99 to $75.99!

I think Oxbow shot themselves in the foot with this brilliant move. Nobody is going to pay that kind of money for a bag of food when there are other, sometimes better foods out there. I wouldn't use it when it was $32.00 a bag because I thought that was ridiculous when I could get Tradition for $10.50 a bag at the same time. I surely wouldn't use Oxbow at $75.99 a bag. That's insane, especially since we know how much the original 50 pound bags cost straight from Oxbow. What is that? 150% mark up? Yeesh!

Was the price increase on hay as well? Luckily I have an unopened 9 lb. bag of hay, but I'm worried about the next bag. I should call my feed store...

The price increase was on everything from Oxbow, in average a 10-15% increase. I think Dr.s Foster and Smith is trying to cover the shipping cost as well. How much is it to order directly from Oxbow for a 50lb bag? What is the shipping?

Yeah that's really expenisve! Kunya hates Oxbow, but my bunny LOVES it! I need to order some and saw the price increase and I order online because I don't have a store that sells it around me. I am sure Oxbow will lose some customers over this.

When you order the 50 pound bag from drs. foster and smith it comes directly to you from Oxbow not from drsfostersmith.

rach_leigh, I also sell Oxbow Bunny Basic/T. ;)

When you order the 50 pound bag from drs. foster and smith it comes directly to you from Oxbow not from drsfostersmith.

In that case, I am pretty sure that they are trying to cover the shipping cost since drs. foster and smith only charge $10 for orders under $100.

This is terrible. That is a huge freakin increase... I just got off the phone with my feed store. I used to pay $19.99 for a 9 lb. bag of hay and they told me the new price is $30.99. Really?! UGH.

I guess it's time to try different brands of hay again.

Wow, 50% price spike on 9lb hay... that is crazy. I guess that can't be due to shipping then. I am going to call my wholesaler and check if there has been another price increase since last month. :impatient:

I just emailed my supplier to see if the prices here are going up. Normally a 50lb Timothy Hay goes for $74.99 so if they raise that, it will be even higher here in Canada.

I feed my guys Oxbow but I can buy it wholesale I don't know how some people can afford to feed it. Even Mazuri prices here keep going up. It's crazy!
