GOSH! I didn't realize that pellets were getting so expensive! Almost makes me find someone local with a pellet mill lol

Sometimes that isn't a bad option. I've actually discussed this with a few of the pellet mills around the state. If they have a good formulation for good rabbit pellets, it may be worth a try. So far I haven't found anything that I'd want to feed the entire herd. Too many strange mystery ingredients and gross additives. There are a few people that are lucky enough to be able to feed pellets that have been milled locally.

The same happens with all the vets who push Hills Science Diet which I think is absolutely total crap food for dogs. Their specialty foods for ill cats/dogs is one thing, but as a general food, I wouldn't touch it.

Good comparison. For dogs being so popular, most vets know very little about dog nutrition. That doesn't make a vet's opinion on an exotic's food very valuable. I'd much rather get my info from a long-time breeder/rancher.

I am glad chin pellets aren't like dog food. You can pay so little for the crap stuff (grocery store brands, Nutro, Iams, etc) but the high quality brands are through the roof. Luckily for the chins, the high quality stuff can be purchased much cheaper than the pet store brands.
