I've been dealing with a case of Giardia with my little man for a little while now, thankfully though, I think we've finally got it on the run (no pun intended). I've been doing the whole wash, bleach, rinse, dry, repeat thing on a daily basis, and of course, I have to do something with Master of the Universe while all this washing, bleaching, ect. stuff is going on, so I've been keeping him in a carrier while I ready his home every night. Now, this is not a little thing, he has plenty of space - I'd never even think of cramping his style for even one minute. He REALLY hates this carrier for some reason, so I put sticks for him to chew on & other things to hopefully take his mind off of being in there. Last night, I was doing the cleaning thing, Chinzilla was in the carrier - hating it, and all was well. I guess that he'd had just about enough of the carrier, because besides chewing on the bars and stomping around he's added attempting to work the latch on the door. Well, he seemed to be getting pretty steamed, so I decided to give him a shredded wheat square to hopefully 1. get his mind off of things for a few minutes, and 2. well, a little "comfort food" (bribery) is not such a bad thing all the time. I handed him the square through the bars of the door - he grabbed it from my hand with his paw and slung it to the back of the carrier! It bounced off of the back wall and just lay there while he gave me one of the most dirty GTH looks I've ever seen. I wasn't so sure that it was intentional - you know, one of those "did I really see that, or was it just my imagination?" kind of moments, so I got my husband's attention and he watched as I tried to offer another peace offering to the king. Again, I put the square through the bars, and again he jerked it out of my fingers, and again ZING!! off of the back wall it bounced - again. we both giggled, but by the look on his sweet little face, he was not at all amused. The third one, he just basically slapped out of my fingers and kicked it to the rear. I'm so glad he doesn't speak English. I've never seen him act this way before, it was so funny - I didn't know they had hairy little temper tantrums, it was such a hoot to see! When I finished drying and putting his real home back to gether, I opened the carrier door, ready for a tazmanian devil to strike, but he was just the same sweet little man he always - ok well, usually is. It's almost like someone just flipped a switch - what a little psycho!
