I'm really hoping for a miracle here for your boy, this makes me so sad :[
Can you hold him up in front of the freezer with the door open and just hold him there til he cools down?

while im petting him he doesn't cry
his ears are cold and have been for a little while now, which means he should be fine theoretically, I don't know what to say...
at least he has made a bit of a recovery, I read on a website something about giving them gatorade? did anybody try this? I am a little against it though I know it works well on people so should i give it a shot?
or just keep waving water around his nose see if he thinks hmm I want that

he is also just laying against a bottle of iced water, not totally limp
look, I have tried water and freezer and all these things before I even thought of aksing anybody for help
I literally spend my nights reading useless papers on chinchillas and anything I can find because honestly the are my life. not that I have no life, I just absolutely adore my animals. so I know everything that you guys would know off websites and books, I'm just aksing if anybody has ever seen a chinchilla with cramps, that lies there and cries because I have to tell you, if you knew how sentimental my boy is and how he sleeps at night to play with me all day and how he screams if I ignore him even for an hour, ugh.. this is more painful then if it was to happen to me. if it was me I could bare it, but seeing him lay there is my worst nightmare. specially because he is my fav

Did you try this vets?

Hey...you might remember talking with me a few days ago in email?

I pm'ed you on here. For a vet, near you, try:

Dr Upjohn at Eagle Ridge 604-464-3343

He looks after all the rescue chins with BC Small Animal Rescue and is on the mainland(where you are).
If you can't try him, try Sharon Prus in Surrey. Her phone number is (604) 597-7387.
Vet clinic is off the King George Highway. I hope he makes it!

I don't understand, there must be a vet open now in a city the size of Vancouver. I care about Otto too, I should be asleep now but I feel so bad for him. Please take him in

nobody is picking up everywhere is closed
thanks for being with me you guys, I really aprechiate it, somewhere through our desperate tears, lol
otto won't let me not hold him now
he wants to be held non stop
if I don't he cries
but my body is warm
ugh
so confusing
I tried like 10 vets and nobody is picking up, though I don't think there's much else they can do is there?

Keep ringing every vet in your area - there has to be an E-vet that can see you.

Is he still fitting?

While you're still ringing all the vets you can try sitting with him in front of the fridge (not the freezer) with the door open - so you are both getting some cool air. You need to cool him off slowly, not quickly or he will go into (more) shock.

IF he survives, he will need sub-cut fluids and intensive nursing care - treating for shock and also syringe feeding.
He really, really needs vet care - please keep trying to find an E-vet.

Maybe so, maybe not. People go into the hospital all the time in car accidents, heart attacks, strokes and so on. Some recover, some don't. I can't believe Otto Has lasted this long. As the worst case a vet can put him out of his pain.

They take chins and they are open 24 hours. I've taken mine there before. If not, Dr. Upjohn in the morning would be my #1 recommendation.

(Hopefully this isn't too late)

An update would be nice. I doubt you been at the vets for 9 hours. People are actually worried here! I know I am as I have been following but keeping my mouth shut.
I'd keep a close eye on that pregant girl too and hope she everything with her babies are ok. Please get an AC and stop breeding especially if you can't afford a vet.
I hope this little one is ok. He needed a vet minutes after you found him like you did. Google comes in handy you know.

I'm sorry I was up with him all night my internet died too
No I did not take him to the vet because I really don't have money. only admission was 250 plus extra costs, I really don't have that
he is better. he is sitting up now and walking a little
he still finds it a bit hard to move, but he is sleeping in the garage next to a bag of ice and so are the others, still looking to get an A/C
I think he will be okay, it's just a matter of rest.
I ended up sleeping with him outside on the balcony, I slept against the railing so he can't jump off if he tries. he kept snuggling up to me and it was so painful to have to move him away from my chest to keep him cool and make absolutely sure I don't squish him. didn't end up sleeping though. but he is better. Pandora seems very interested too. She is permanently checking on him and grooming him, it's nice to know she cares.
but yeah, I think he will be okay in a day or two. I feel horrible for not taking him in I know it's bad... but I think he will be fine. I'll keep you updated on all three of them. the girls were doing fine just by the way, pandora is the pregnant one and she is fine taking on the daddy as a child, it's cute.
I put annie separately because her and pandora just met a couple days ago and I want to make sure there is no stress. so she is in her own cage
thanks so much for all your support.

If the chinchilla was fitting and was unresponsive then he is going to need extra fluids - subcutaneous - for a start. He needs veterinary assessment and treatment.

Heat stroke can do irreparable damage to internal organs and it can cause death several days after the actual event. Please don't just think this chin is going to be fine - it may not be the case.
