    Chinchilla Care Book?

Thanks for the feedback you two! :) Tunes, did you look at Blurb.com at all? That's were I was checking out, and it's sort of a make-your-own, and they just print and sell it for you. It was rather pricey, but the books come out looking so nice. I was thinking for more of a gift/coffee...

    Chinchilla Care Book?

Hey everyone, I was kind of thinking of making an artful chinchilla care book, with lots of good resolution, nice photos and correct information on how to properly care for a chinchilla. I'm thinking that the book would be about 10x8 inches. The pricing would be about $23 for a softcover, $34...

I'm in the mood to see huge chinny ears

Here's my little Suki. Because she was so skinny, he head-to-body ratio was totally out of whack when I got here...including her HUGE ears.

We adopted two dogs, and now...

Wow! That is just a horrific wound! He looks like he really couldn't care less, though. What a cutie! And Jessie and Chaser are adorable! You are an amazing person to have done this for these animals. Bear really is a little miracle puppy...

    Welcome Chimney

I love his name! That's so great for an ashy li'l ebony (or is he a black velvet with that paler tummy?)!

    Chins do the darndest things...

ChickaChickah stole some bolts and nuts when I was hanging flower pots in his and Charlie's cage... He grabbed them and ran away fast like he was being tricky.

    Hunched back

Poor Loki! Correct me if I'm wrong, as I probably did have this set up in my mind incorrectly... I though that a hunchback could be caused by improper nutrition in the form of a poor nutrient balance. This would result in poor match-up of frame and tissue growth, resulting in too large of a...

    Which do chins prefer?

1st cut hay is the lowest quality of hay. It is much more mature at the time of cutting, because it requires longer to reach the size need to cut. It is growing early in the spring, when it grows slower and has older material on it from the previous season that has been overwintered. 2nd cut...

    Neutered ?

As chinchilla neutering is not a very common practice, I would assume that they are not neutered. Multiple males in a cage with a female, neutered or not, will most likely fight to the death over the female. Also, if you are not an experienced breeder and/or do not know the genetic history of...

    Shreveport and the deathstore

He's so cute! I'm so happy you were able to rescue him...you have such a good boyfriend to do that for you!!! :D I'm really amazed/horrified by these types of stories... The small pet store in the mall here takes pretty good care of their chinnies...they all look pretty healthy, and they're...

Aw, they're so adorable! I'm really sorry about the one that got sat on, and I hope that baby Bear makes it! My thoughts are with you and your husband!

    Purina in the green bag

Is it a problem to feed the green bag? It's lower in protein...plus! It has the same fiber and fat...good! The only differences seem to be the mineral contents and the sources of fiber. Essentia, I know I just ordered feed from you, but (eep!) I ordered a bit too late... This is why I'm...

    Poor Eyesight in Pink-Whites?

Hey all, So, the other day I was letting Suki run around in the hallway of my dorm (it's pet-friendly). When it was time to catch her, she ran smack-dab into a doorjamb, turned around, ran into the jamb on the other side, turned around and did it again! And a couple of weeks ago, when I...

is it ok to give them these~ strawberry acidophilus

I have the strawberry acidophillus by Mason. I cut the tablets in half, and my boys get one every three days or so. The amount of sugar in each quarter tablet is on;y about 0.25 g, so it's not very much at all. Suki doesn't like them, though. I think it just depends on the chinnie.

    Very Underweight Chin...

Suki is now eating roughly 3/4 of her pellets each day!!! That's nearly 1-1/2 tablespoons! It's very exciting. I also just weighed her last night and she came in at 399 grams, so she gained nearly ten grams in a week! I'm really happy with her progress (as little as it is...) and really hope...

    Thick Tail?

Suki is just a problem child... This is another thread about her and her strangeness. I'm wondering...She has a thick tail. Like, really thick, not like any chin's I've ever met before. it's not that the hair on her tail is extra thick, it's that the bone or the muscle is dense. Anybody...

    Irresponsible

There's one up in Syracuse now...the person wants a cell with a keyboard-type pad. My stepmom has an extra cell...I thought about going and getting the chin...then realized the last time my boyfriend left me home alone, he came home to a third chinchilla. I don't think he's be so pleased if I...

    Very Underweight Chin...

She just started on the PANR, so I wouldn't be surprised to not see any weight gain yet. And she is petite, but she has a larger frame than the boys...she doesn't feel nice and chubby, she feels thin and bony. I just weighed her, and she's in at just about the same weight...390...which isn't a...
