Just wondering where do you guys keep your chinchillas?.mine have been in my bedroom. Is it safe? Should i move them out into another room?
thanks

Your bedroom should be fine, as long as they get some quiet time during the day. I had ours in a bedroom in the beginning, but now they have their own room in our basement.

my chin lives in my dining room, which can be very active, but also quite quiet during the day. We very rarely eat in our dining room, and it was the largest area we had to keep her cage and playpen. Being an only chin, I think she likes to be where she can interact with us at certain times of the day.

Ours are in the basement... course between our own and rescues, we're up in the high 30's right now, so we couldn't really squeeze them in anywhere else! Your bedroom should be fine as long as it's the right temperature and all. A lot of the people who adopt from us keep the chin in the bedroom with one of the family members and they do just fine. :))

Mine are in the dining room right under the thermostat. Being under the thermostat I know the temperature is most accurate, and the room is right off the livingroom and kitchen. So they are usually in site when I'm home. My boys have no trouble sleeping with me around them during the day.

Mine used to be in a Bedroom, but when I bought my own place they now have their own room. They share it with my PC, so there's someone about when we need to use it but they get peace while we're out of work. Using the box room means its easier to control the temp with the air con. :)

I agree, the bedroom is fine, if you can sleep with them in there, and the temp. doesn't get to warm for them.

My two boys live in the basement where it is always nice & cool! :)

I keep mine in the basement it's the most un used room and coolest temp and quiet est room

I have mine in our finished basement but its not the most unused room. It's pretty quiet during the day while the kids are at school but it's also the family room at night. It is the coolest area in our house but we also have to run a dehumidifier from June through October to keep the humidity below 50%.

I keep my guy in the living room, it is pretty quiet during the day since my boyfriend and I are in class most of the day and other than the TV it is pretty quiet. FenFen is a bit noisy at night so it was really only an option of the living room or bedroom and I'm pretty light sleeper.

my boys have evicted me from my bedroom, lol. then again, i'm addicted to sleeping on my couch by the fish tanks (the sound of the filters running the water is the best white noise ever!). so i guess i have a dedicated chin room now, even though my clothes hang in the closet in there.

I have 2 of mine in my bedroom with me, where it is a cool 68 degrees, and I have 2 in the dining room where it is 72 degrees. Those 2 like it a little warmer than the others do, so they moved back out to the dining room tonight.

But they never had any problems sleeping in there or when they were all out in the dining room, as long as you left the lights off. Turn them on and it's play time at the Zoo!

Mine are in a room between the dinning room and the living room. I used to have my desk next to them and that was really nice - they were always popping over to say hi. But we moved things around and my desk got movinged out of that room. I've always wroked duringt he day so they have always had peace and quite all day. they wake up about the time I get home (exept school nights).

Mine has their own room. Funny thing is the previous owner built this room behind the attached garage and it looks like a log cabin. After the move I figured this room would be perfect since it's got it's own built in wall heater and I can put a window ac in it. Sad part is that their room is as big as the master bed room lol.
You're fine having them in your bed room. I had them in my room at one point, but I will admit I get a very good night sleep without hearing them bark and talk all night long lol.

Mine is in the bedroom. It's quite in there most of the day and is the easiest room to keep cool. Unfortunately this requires me to sleep with ear plugs in lol. But it's always nice to share a room with a chin.

I live in a 750 sq. ft. condo, so mine are in the living room right by where I spend time on my computer. They sleep just fine with me there and the TV on.

For security, I have a lamp on a timer. I hear them come alive after the lights go out. I'm a pretty good sleeper, so I never hear them when I'm asleep.

My Handbag is the middle of the living room of a very small house...with a dog.

Lately I have been home as I have been sick (2 weeks), and he has endured lot's of television during the day. He has slept through it all.

My dog, Mudslide, loves him and often lays near his cage. In the evening, my dog brings her nuggets into the living room...drops them down...and eats them next to Handbag's cage while he eats his pellets. Crazy but true. They are two peas in a pod.

Overall, HB doesn't worry much about any noises, day or night. They are very adaptable in my opinion.
