What wrong with blossom

She is healthy but she has been jumping up in the air out of no where and does little turns when she jumps. She has also been scratching her belly with her back legs or uses her teeth to groom her tummy. Scooter doesn't do anything like that. It's only her that does these weird little things.

When she is hopping like that she is "popcorning", which is completely normally. It generally happens when they are really happy/excited about something. Her grooming her tummy/scratching is also completely normal. Scooter probably grooms himself like this as well, just not out in the open like Blossom does.

It sounds like she's "popcorning." My kits do it much more than my adults although some of my adults will do it when they're out to play. It's a happy energetic hop.

The grooming is normal. You just may not have seen your other chin do it.

Thanks i just wasn't sure what the heck she was doing. Its very cute though. I'm glad it's a happy hop. She has done it for the past two days.

You can even do a search on YouTube for chinchilla popcorn to see examples, I know I did a search when someone mentioned wall-surfing and I didnt know what it was. It's like chinchilla parkour.

i think someone should create a video and incorporate wall-surfing chins into outdoor, grungy areas lol. chins would be the best at parkour!

I haven't seen them do that yet. I'm just glad she is getting more comfortable around us.

I may have missed this on another post/thread but how old are they?
I saw that you had a long thread about stuff to get for them (didn't finish it becuse I saw this tread and checked it out)... did you have a "play area" on the list? some poeple use the bathroom (after chin safing it). I have a giant cardboard wall that I enclose an entire room in and let them go for it... no wires, or anything dangerous to chew but they get a whole room (small room, but still). I get a TON of wall surfing going on because they can really run around.

now that I have a video cam maybe it's tiem to do a video of the set up...
