Was just wondering... what happens to the chins if something happens to you?

Well since something has already happened to me, and currently "happening" I have 2 friends that would be there for me. Once stepped up last year when I first started my journey with cancer, and was a God send! I plan on being here for years to come, but life is to short, and you learn that lesson the hard way sometimes. I know my son would have his favorites that he'd keep like Elvis, etc. They would continue to be spoiled with toys, etc. (my kid is trying to take over already!) I say enjoy what you have, while you have it, yes make preparations, but hope for the best and many years ahead for each one of us!

I asked Hubbs this question once and he said he'd sell them all - and quickly I am sure. lol I'm hoping, and pretty sure, he would contact other chin people we know. And am hoping that they would take them in and continue with the work I have done in trying to produce nice chins.

I'm lucky. I have 4 dogs and they already have homes for when I'm "gone". My boyfriend and I got our Chinchilla's together so I know he would keep all 3. Our only female, Max, might go to his mom (who loves her to death!) but otherwise John would keep the boys at the very least. I love that he loves my/our pets as much as I do.

If something should happen to all of us, I guess Annabelle would go back to Crysta (Essentia) since that's where she came from. My mom *could* take her in, but I know Annabelle would be happier in a home that wanted a chin.

I was hospitalized for a week on Jan 1st. I was lucky that my son was living at home. My husband left that Tuesday to go to Boston on business.

I have thought about this, since I do have health problems and am looking at another operation. I'm writing up some care instructions (probably end up pages and pages, heh), and my parents have said they will look after Henry on a temporary or, if anything happened to me, permanent basis. My mum loves and is very good with rabbits, so I think that would give a decent start, she understands hindgut fermenters and monitored our bunnies' poops with the same fascination chin people do! The only thing she'd have to become more confident with is holding him. She refuses to hold him at the moment as she says he has 'bird bones', which does seriously unnerve her - she likes birds but won't touch them, and I think because chins are pretty light and feel very delicate, it reminds her. Luckily he's very good about being held, so I think she'd be Ok.

If something happened to me, my fiance would know how to take care of them since he always has taken care of them with me. If anything happened to both of us, I am not sure... neither of our parents would know how to properly care for them nor would they have the room.

Pretty sure I know someone who would be first in line to for them :) She would get first choice and then if she didnt want them all she would help the hubs sell them. He would not keep them i am sure.

I'm in Peru now and my mom is in charge. I left her with the supply she'll need, a list of chinchilla care instructions including what is normal and what is not, the name and number of the vet I've lined up, and my login for this site. In the off chance that she was not able to take care of them, my boyfriend is very used to the chinchillas, gets along with them, and knows how to take care of them. :D

It's funny I found this. My daughter and I had this discussion just a few days ago. Short term, the hubby would take care .. Heck he did last week when I was on a " mini" vacation . He even called at 5:30am when my Annabelle escaped her cage. And caught her by himself, an hour later.lol.. I have 3 that would go to a chin- friend.. Others would go to the wonderful person I got them from.. My fatcat kitty, to a friend, but I think the hubby would use all my fish In my tanks would be bait on the next fishing trip..lol

Well I have a couple people. Gary Neubauer said he would take them if the whole herd had to be placed immediately but Tara will first fly in and help sort and distribute or sell them as needed. Also Pam Oldham will want some of them as well. I have a few other people wanting a couple here and there but basically Tara gets the fun job of finding homes for them.
