But not that I care either way, I love my meat.
I just wanted to make sure you said that.:hilarious:

Oh...and if I am left alone, my crazy brain comes up with all sorts of things. I make sure that I don't spend too much time thinking about anything in particular. Obsessing about things is bad and having time to focus primarily on obsessing is worse. That's why people in prison really ought to be working on something all the time. Not in a cruel way where you force them to do backbreaking labor, but little tasks are good.

I was thinking of what it would be like to be locked up...someone else would feed me, I wouldn't have to do anything really, just would have to take care of my primary needs. I'd sit there and plot revenge all day...and I'd probably feel like being on vacation the first few weeks since I wouldn't have to do much of anything.

You keep talking like that and you will be on vacation before you know it.

Lock me up now. I'll take that vacation. I'm ok with being alone. Give me books and I'll be happy.

Edited to add: Oh, and this is getting off topic, so I'll just add - yay for meat.

Hey... Border patrol got shot at by coyote/cartel not far from you this morning.
You really need to be carrying a .380 or 9mm, something small with a 25 rd extended mag. One of these days you are going to go outside to make a cage and get taken hostage. I have a whole bunch of 12 Gauge trip wire alarms from overseas. You can have them if you want, they can be loaded with any type of shell (flare/salt/pepperspray/blanks). Dont use lethal though... Arizona is using that as pre-meditation to murder now.

Well, I turned a hard core meat eater into a vegan in about five months. :) John was pretty easy to convince...he felt better and he got to eat a lot more with me cooking for him. He's over 40 now and he looks at least five years younger than he really is...despite the hair loss and that he's a little pudgy. :) All you have to do is look at me...I'm (muffled) years old and everyone thinks I'm 17. (I'm kidding...I do not look like I am 17....I am old, very old..I'm a bad example.)

Being a vegetarian isn't that hard, it's a lot easier now than it used to be back 10 or 15 years ago. Everything tastes better, has a more believable texture and is cheaper...if you go with substitutes, that is.

You'd survive as a vegetarian... :D But, you don't have to...it's America, you can make your own food choices. :p

Not to be nitpicky or anything, but this got me curious. Why would you bother buying a meat product if you are against eating animals? If you're buying the meat product, then the animal already died. And then, by throwing away the meat part, you just wasted it. So it's kind of like that animal died for nothing.

Just curious..

I don't buy them. My stepfather loves them and eats them for breakfast when he is here. Sometimes they sound good so I will grab one and take the meat off and put my own "meat" on.

By "throw it out" I meant, taking it off the biscuit. I usually either give it to the dog once it is thawed or someone snakes it for some reason.

And no, I don't cook it with the meat on. When it is frozen, everything just pops off. Even the cheese slice comes off whole. Then I cook it.

I've wanted to go vegetarian for a while now.. I can't seem to make it over the "Bacon is SOOO GOOD" hurdle... Plus my captor won't let me convert to Broccoli-ism (the broccoli worship religion).
Besides, I eat a lot of non-meat items.. Like M&M's. That counts!

Edited to add: I love AllRecipes.com for new recipes to try, even veggie ones.

My older sister is a vegetarian so when we are at my dad's house there is no meat. I am ok with it mainly because I love my fruits and veggies (snacking on cranberries right now!) but I also love a good steak. At dad's house we eat lots of stir-fry, quesadillas, and tons of fruit.

So it will probably be easy if you enjoy eating fruit and veggies. If not.. you will have a lot harder time since you will be lacking a bunch of vitamins.

Everyone should take a good multivitamin no matter what...but the worst thing anyone can do is have an imbalanced diet vegetarian or not. My diet is mostly fresh fruits and veggies...and I eat a lot. In the past when I did not eat properly I always made sure to take my vitamins or I would have suffered.

Nicole - I am thrilled to know that I look younger than your Grandma! :p

Ro - Captor? Mine has loudspeakers in the family room right now...he just cares that there is food prepared in large quantities in the house at all times.

I decided I wanted to try vegetarianism for awhile (just for the heck of it, really..I love a nice steak or cheeseburger..plus my boyfriend bet me I couldn't do it) and was wondering if anyone else had any tips/recipes for me. I've decided to not cut out dairy, so anything with cheese/milk is fine. I made a bowtie alfredo dinner last night with breadsticks and salad and it was quite scrumptious!
So, does this mean you're giving up hunting too? I don't know of a single vegetarian that hunts or condones hunting.

No...I'm only trying vegetarianism for a week. I basically just wanted to get a glimpse of what it was like, and prove to my boyfriend that I could go a week without eating meat. :D

I've been vegetarian for the last 10 years. Just after my grandfather decided my pet pig would make a great dinner. I swear I still have nightmares from hearing him screaming in the back of the truck when they drove him off of the ranch to the slaughter location. I've always loved fruits and veggies and feel so much better now that I don't eat meat. For any new veggie I say start out slow. Cut out read meat first, then chicken/pork, and finally fish. I've found a new love in rice noodles (pad tai). That is my guilty veggie food. Plus if you are really craving something sweet Uncle Eddie's Vegan cookies are amazing. I get mine from whole foods. Beans and tofu are a great way to get your protein. I think I eat edamame daily.

Mmmm....Pad Thai... :D

I drink a lot of soy milk...it has seven grams of protein in each serving. That seems to work out pretty well for me. Just about everything has a little bit of protein. As long as you eat well and eat a varied diet, you will get everything you need.

I normally make cookies and things here...it's just easier that way and so much cheaper than buying the "gourmet" vegan cookies. Then again I make most of everything we eat here because my husband is a super picky eater and the stuff from the store often tastes nasty. Like blueberry pie filling from a can is just gross...but the pie filling I make is heavenly and perfect. :D

I am really craving Pad Thai now...thanks a lot! :p

Sorry Susan. I started to crave it too after my last post. I will be picking some up tonight. :dance3:

I do agree with you on cooking. I do make about 95% of what I eat from scratch. However, for my lazy days I will run out to pick up something.

I drink rice milk. For some odd reason I could not get into soy milk.
