If Tab adopts him out, he will be going to Lynn.

AND Little Two Paws!!!

I agree with Saphire -- post all the pictures you can -- I never get tired of seeing him and watching him grow and get stronger every day is very encouraging!!!

Tabitha, I see the point with dragging causing irritation/sores. If he has a proper amputation, his little nubbins will probably be better than Little Two Paws'.

When I first got him and took him in to see Dr. Fitzgerald for a "Well Baby Checkup", I asked if he needed to have a revision surgery, since we don't really know how his nubbin came to be and that it was always just new, pink, tender skin.

The rancher thought a birth accident, Dr. Fitzgerald thought that since he was from a litter of 3, that the umbilical cord could have wrapped around both of his limbs on the left side and his little bobbed tail.

In any case, he consulted with an orthopedic surgeon and they decided that if I was going to give him a life of pampered, fleece covered luxury, that it would be better to leave it as it was, since he does use it to help get himself around.

I just caught up on this thread.

Poor little Jimmy. Adorable and so is little Two Paws. Both melt my heart. Such cuties.

Tab, I hope Jimmy does great during surgery Monday. I will stalk this thread for updates.
I hope he has a speedy recovery.

What helps with chin shock? Would a little corn syrup to the gums help IDK??

Karo syrup can help. They need sugar up, fluids in the body and most of all they need to be kept super warm. When Jimmy is looking shocky I warm him up and give him a little milk and he perks up. He hasn't actually gone into shock yet so I'm definitely happy about that.

We're all set for his appointment...now I'm just nervous and not sure if I'll get a ton of sleep tonight. He's been cleaned up really well, he ate a good amount of pellets, hay and drank some milk and some water. Now he's sitting there and glaring at me because he hates being cleaned. Meanie also reminded me that leaving him there overnight is a no go if the staff is not there. I'm going to talk with them and hopefully I can pick him up after his surgery tomorrow. I'm really struggling with the idea of being separated from him for too long while he's recovering and needs me.

He certainly does needs you, he wouldn't have made it without you. I didn't realize he was getting surgery tomm. I thought they where just going to look at him. Good luck for a fantastic recovery

honestly, I would be struggling also, and would definitely want him home. I couldn't bear the idea of him staying at the vet's overnight with no one there. I would be worried sick.

He's at the vet now. :( I gave the tech a giggle because I'm picking him up tonight, but still sent all his food and extra liners along with him. Anxious barely describes how I feel right now. It's going to be a long day not having him with me...

Tabitha, I'm praying for the both of you.

Please give us an update just as soon as possible. I'm glad that you're going to take him home tonight, too. He will be much more comfortable in his normal environment with a loving Mom to care for him.
