I try to be nice, and all I get is people who start out by saying," I am trying to sound nice..."

Screw this, I don't need this. If you all cared for chins the way you say you do, then you would call the local police and have them take me away because I don't breed or care for them the way you do. I gave this a second chance, I really did. Now that my wife had read all this, she says the same thing. This is a waste of time. I was hoping for help and advice, but all I get is people quoting me, misquoting me, reading too much into it, and being generally nasty when it comes to all this. I reall am out. I'm resinding my membership, and not reading this crap anymore.

My animals are healthy and happy, screw you all for judging me.

The sad thing is us as humans have options, your chins don't. If you really care for them, you'll stay.

Its not advice, its conflict, and i dont need this crap. You know what?!!? Maybe i'll just kill all my chins tonight....would that make you all happy? Jesus freaking christ!

Wow, you really need to take a chill pill and grow up. Once again I am sorry for your chins that you are ignoring this resource and can't be a grown up. If you're sick of this thread just don't visit it again and spend your time reading the forums. You can learn tons by not even posting but by simply reading.

Very, very sad. If I could retract what I said about you caring for your animals, I would. Classic backyard breeder who lives in a bubble of do no wrong.

Agreed. I went through MONTHS of 'tough criticism' before I realized they were right, I didn't know what I was talking about.
To the OP - Seriously, stop being a brat and that's the only way I can describe your current actions.

I can't believe you would say such a horrible thing. I know a lot of people on here can make their words seem harsh, but truely, they're only trying to help out. When I began breeding, I started out on a bad foot. I got bashed by the crowd, but I finally gave in and just learned to listen because I had no experience and I honestly had not done as much research as I needed to. Since I've changed things around, I've noticed a large difference in the respect I get and people know that I try harder than anything to improve the species and not just put two animals together. Whether you want to continue to breed is up to you, but I suggest at least going to shows and learning quality. You don't have to show your chins, but maybe have them taken to the show just to see how to pair your chins. You need to also think about their health if you don't know their backgrounds. Just know that they have no control over what you put them with, it's up to you to be the responsible caregiver. I'm not accusing you of anything - I would just like for you to sit back and think of what is going on and how you can improve. Calm down, relax. The chin world is harsh, but also know, we're here to help.

Just to reply to your original post, one of the great things about breeding animals that you know exact history of is that you know exactly what colors of chins that you are going to possibly get. You don't have to guess, or come to a public forum with a question that an experienced breeder shouldn't even have to think about. I wasn't planning on posting again because I didn't feel like the information was being taken, but I have to say that I cry for the kits that you are producing because you have no idea how short their lives will be, or how painful their genetic defects will be for them to struggle with and finally die from. Finally being relieved and taken into heaven. It can take sometimes 3 or 5 years before these genetic defects become evident. The idea that show chins are different from pet chins is incorrect. Many show chins are pet chins, and the other way around. Just because you don't want to go through the time and expense (sometimes great joy and sometimes horrible let down) to show your animals, dosen't mean that you can't start with the best. Buying a show quality chin costs about what a regular chin does (of course there are the really expensive ones too). My last thought is that instead of producing the bear minimum of happy chins, why not shoot for the stars and produce the best possible mixture of temperament, health, looks, size, color, strength, density etc etc etc.
Edited to ad - Valley View eartags their chins, if you can give me the numbers from their eartags i'm sure that I can get the chins original information and history. And why not be clear about where you got each of your chins instead of saying PRIV. People will be much more accepting when you open the doors.
And seriously kill your chins? Are you 5? I'll call around and find someone who can take them from you if you are that unstable.

I do hope someone calls the police on you. If you are dumb enough to make a statement to kill all your chins because you are upset that people are telling you the right things then you deserve to be in jail for animal cruelty.

No one misquoted you - those were all things you said and you can't escape that.

You posted on your own site that you breed rescued chinchillas with no pedigrees - own up to that!!!!

Everything that you have said on here and on your website - OWN UP TO IT!!!

Face it. YOU have said some dumb things because YOU are doing dumb things.

NO one will be nice anymore - not after your little hissy fit.

"People are mean to me - boo hoo - Im gonna kill my chinchillas"

You are an ignorant baby! Grow up and get some morals.

Hopefully you are kidding but in any case, please seek help. If anything I posted brought you to your nutty point I apologize, I got a little nutty myself...

you are all right. I guess I shouldn't have said that and I do apologize. I'm not crazy, I am just one of those people that doesn't admit I'm wrong when I dont think I am. I'm not perfect, but neither are any of you. Quote me whenever, or however you want at this point. I've submitted my termination from this site, so it doesnt matter any more. I just wish I could have made some friends and mentors, not enemies.

Part of being a human in general is admitting that you're wrong occasionally. I do it (what feels like at least) on a daily basis. The termination, if you want to send a PM, can be stopped if you want to continue to learn. I know people want you to stay and so do I.
I think it's in your best interest, as well as your chins, for you to stay.

Thank you, but there are too many people that are here to judge rather than give advice. I do admit when I am wrong....ask my wife....but I am NOT wrong with the way I breed my chins. It may not be the same way others breed, but that doesn't make it wrong.

Thank you for apologizing. I really appreciate that you have retracted your statement.

It doesn't mean that you've created enemies on this site. It can be tough, but to just say that you are sorry means the world to people.

Really, people are stubborn when it comes to chinchilla breeding ethics - we are all stubborn and so are you. We just all need to calm down and try to move past this - perhaps a mod should close the thread.

I agree that it might be in your best interest to stay on the forum.

If that is the case, and a mod closes the forum, then I will stay and learn what I can. I'm german.....stubborn is in my blood.

The best thing to do is take what people say and learn from it, you can disagree with it all you want, but if you take what they say to heart instead of just pushing it aside instantly because they disagree with you, you can learn a lot. There was some pretty good advice given on here.
No one has said they know everything, they're just sharing with you what they know so you can listen to it and maybe learn and be even better than before.

Well I already sent a message to the mods asking them to delete me, so if I don't talk to you guys again, I apologize once again for saying the things I did. With that said, I don't think I'm wrong for doing what I'm doing, and god bless chinchillas in general....they're the coolest little animals I could have ever hoped for.

Not one of us said that we know all, and that if you are not us, you are not right. Every one of us was trying to give you more information, in hopes of helping you make better choices. I will admit freely that I do not know everything chinchilla. I will also toot my own horn to say that I've been around the block and back when it comes to chinchillas. I have people that I look up to in the chin world. You'll become a much better furparent when you admit that you also do not know everything, and that you also may not be 100% right in practice. The best thing that you can do is to learn as much as you can. Taking offense to anything said is pointless. Taking this as a learning opportunity is going to be your best bet. Once you take a step back, a deep breath, i'd be willing to bet you'll see that we are all human, we all make mistakes. The reason our society keeps advancing is because we have so many ways of sharing information. That's all this place is, a place to share information. Try to let us know what your decision with your animals is going to be. And again, I want to say if you've got any problem with caring for your chins, please contact me, I will help if it comes down to it.
