I got Robin today, she's a little shy and runs from me.
She poops everywhere, when i try to touch her fur she runs off and makes a strange noise. I don't know.
She doesn't seem to jump of her 2nd shelf and i can't grab her to giver her her dust bath OO.
I'm keeping the sand in the cage, if she happens to jump down.
She peed on the 2nd shelf, do you think that's a problem? My mom said it will probably root. If i get some hay and some wood scobs and put it in the 1st level she will pee there?
I should let her calm down meanwhile right? :duh:

Yes, this is her first day with you. She is probably scared stiff. Give her a few days to accomodate to her new surroundings. Give her some alone time. Put her pellets, lots of hay and water in her cage. When she sees her dust bath, she should know what to do on her own. Once she settles down in her new surroundings you can slowly come around and let her get used to your voice. Don't try to pick her up or even touch her yet. You can try giving her scritches in maybe a week.. but don't rush her, no reason to do that. You have plenty of time.

and yes, chinchillas poop everywhere. They have no control over that. Peeing on the shelf is normal for some chins. You just have to clean it up asap. Don't pick her up for the dust bath, let her find it on her own.
