obviously, its hard to see. Tho its probably a better picture then i could take that close up. Its possible she scraped it on something. Im not realy sure. Have to wait for someone more frimilar with chin injuries

If you can't find Blu-Kote you can go to any pharmacy and ask them for Gentian Violet. It's the main ingredient in Blu-Kote and works exactly the same way.

I agree with the Blu-Kote advice and wanted to add that you may want to buy some disposable gloves as Blu-Kote/Gentian violet is messy and will stain your hands. Not that I have experienced purple hand syndrome at all...

i went to the pharmacy and i couldn't find any is there another brand or something i can use if so name a couple of them or is there another technique i can try?

Clean it off and put a thin layer of neosporin on it.

Edit: The Epsom salt works wonders. That would probably be the best way to clean it.

Hopefully she is not eating those raisins as they are very bad for chinchillas. Please read the health and nutrition faqs on this forum or do a search for raisins.

Blu Kote is the best thing for her foot - it is easily found at Tractor Supply and I believe I have seen it at PetsMart as well.

If she is biting at her foot it is possible that she is stressed or bored. Also, not the best picture but it could be a fungal infection as well.

i give her a raisin once or twice a week and i cannot find blu kote or the violet thing and she is not stressed or bored i bring her out of her cage every day for 30mins of play time downstairs and i consistently talk to her and my friends on the computer so she is always with me listening and its not a fungal infection cause its scabbing up and not spreading anywhere on her i think its just bothering her.

It is swollen & looks infected to me. I personally would take her to the vet to see what they think, she might need an antibiotic.

You could try soaking the foot in epsom salt water, Here's how to do that:
Get some epsom salt, fill up a shot glass with warm water, put about 2 tablespoons of epsom salt in the water, and put her foot in it for a few minutes. Have someone hold her and you put the shot glass to her foot.

The sooner you start these soaks the better (tonight if possible). I had a chin whos toe got bit off and the epsom salt helped more than blu-kote or neosporin (thanks to Peggy for the idea). I still used neosporin after the soaks to prevent germs from getting inside the wound.

If this gets any worse or no progress is made go to the vet, especially since she is picking at it.

i took a steamin hot rag with Epsom salt in it folded it over rubed her foot real good took a ear swab and put some neosporin on it and rubed a light coat over it, and it looks bad in that picture cause right now its not even red any more its just a little scab.

Please stop feeding raisins. They can cause digestive issues and tooth decay (both due to the large amount of sugar in them).
