the ladders are ramps with raise rungs. They are not see through but solid metal.
And the bottom is a pan not wire.

130 gm is very small for a kit to be away from it's mom. I would be very careful to keep an eye on him and make sure he's growing steadily. I would also wrap something around that cage so he can't squeeze through those bars. Definitely keep him in the cage and not having playtime for now. He's just too small.

You're in good hands, labrescuens. I just thought I'd add this: www.petchinchillas.info -my favorite site (plus this one of course). I'd also like to second covering the bars with something for a little while till the baby gets bigger-maybe wire cloth would work. I wish you were near me-I have a bunch from when I built my chins cage I'd let you have. And if you don't have a hidey house yet, I'd put something in there for them to hide in until you get yours. Also, for the dad now until the baby gets bigger, rosehips are a good treat aswell-I didn't notice that mentioned and my guy LOVES them, but only a tiny bit once a week-all that's on the website I gave you (the owner of the site is a member on here as well).

Weighing the baby every couple days should let you know that he's growing at a good rate and eating good (My chin loves Mazuri). Oh, the scared noise is called 'barking' and it sort of sounds like a dogs squeeky toy. They make other noises as well, but they're much quieter, so if its loud, you know they're scared-once they get to know you really well, they occassionaly use the noise for other things, like attention, but for now it's defintiely scared. Make sure to talk in a quiet voice when giving them food, water, cleaning their cage, etc, until they get better acquanted with you and their new home.

They're really cute-the baby is seriously adorable! Good for you for adopting! And good luck:)

I left my lap top on all night with music. I'll have to find a small television to put in here for them so they can watch tv. I'm going today to get a hidy house and some new food no puppy chow for my guys!! (it's easier in dog terms for me as I've been running the rescue for 7 years :) ) When should I put the saucer in then? It's on its way now but if the little man is too small then I can just let big daddy out to play for now.
This morning when I came in big daddy ran right to the door (both the top and bottom right doors swing open) and made a little barking noise. So I said hello but didn't touch him. He stood up on the cage and "barked" louder at me. Does that mean he wants out or wants me to touch him??

He's warning you away from the kit. Again, just let them settle in. You're doing fine with just talking to them. One of the things I always recommend is sitting next to the cage reading out loud. After they have been there for a week or so, and allowed to settle in, then start reading to them. Even if the adult barks, just keep reading in a normal tone of voice. Let them get used to having you around. After that, you can progress to more physical contact.

I know I keep harping on this, and I'm really sorry, but are you positive that he's a he? Have you ever seen the kit underneath the adult, trying to nurse? I just cannot wrap my head around someone letting a kit that small go without it's mom to provide milk. Can you please take pictures of the adult chin's genitalia and post them? I know it sounds gross, but plenty of people have done it before you. We can check to be SURE it's a male, and I can stop bugging you about the sex.

I also encourage you to post pictures of the chinnies genitals. When I first got my chinchilla, the 'breeder' told me it was a male and I believed that for a couple weeks. Then, while talking in chat, it became clear to me I had a female. It's very important to know for sure what sex chinnies you have, especially when caging them together.

Yup, they are males. Again, I apologize, but I just cannot understand a little baby like that being away from it's mom. Did they say what had happened to her? Did they still have her?

There were 3 females and two males that were seized. I adopted the two males to keep them all from breeding again. There was a mom and dad (the dad I adopted) and a middle girl and then a female kit and male kit (again the male baby is the other I adopted). There were a bunch of other animals as well. I've been doing rescue for seven years only with labs. So the small animal thing is new to me. And I'm sure some on here will think it was a whim and it probably was. But I have them, it's for their lifetime and I am determined to give them everything they haven't had previously. So I'm here to get help in taking care of them.
So don't feel bad about asking me and no apologies needed. Advice and help is ALWAYS welcome!!
I got new pellets today and also some timothy cubes for them. I also built them both a little bridge/hut out of 1ft long pine (kiln dried of course). And baby decided he didn't like where I put his so he knocked his down two levels to where he wanted it at the bottom. At first I thought it fell so I placed it back on the top and watched as he, with much determination, pushed it over each ledge to the bottom. So his is on the bottom and big daddy's is on the top :)

With that kit being so young and so small, it would be good to give him a dry milk formula. He shouldn't even be away from mom until at least 200 gm and 6 weeks of age.

1 part ground pellets
1 part goat's milk replacer powder
1 part 1/2 baby rice cereal and 1/2 baby rice oatmeal

Mix that up and store it in a tupperware container, then give it to the kit. I free feed it when I use it here. If the stuff in the bowl gets mucked up, I dump it, clean the bowl, and refill it.

ETA: I would also, for the time being, keep him in a one level cage. If he falls from too high up, he could easily break a leg or even do irreperable damage neurologically if he hits wrong.

and is it ok for big daddy to have that also since they're in the same cage? And should I just remove the bottom ramp for now then?

I would remove the ramps permanently anyway. Chins don't use or need ramps. They hop from ledge to ledge. If you provide plenty of shelving for the chins, with breaks throughout the cage with hammocks and stuff, it will be safer than having ramps in there.

Whoever is in the cage with the kits eats the dry formula here, whether it's mom, dad, the kits, etc.

so where would be good places to put extra shelves? There's a picture of my cage earlier in the post. I have a flying saucer on the way as well and was thinking of putting it in the bottom and a hammock across from the top shelf?

Wheel + baby = not good. If Big Daddy (btw, how about Brick for the kit after "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"?) runs on the wheel and falls off, he can land on the kit and hurt him. If the baby tries to run on it and flies off at high speed, he can get hurt just as badly as he would falling from the top shelf. And if he's that itty bitty, he shouldn't be exercising too much too soon or there's a chance of malnutrition. He'll be running off all the calories he gets instead of getting fat and happy. :)

oh no I was already advised earlier. I'm not putting it in when it comes. Just trying to plan their pad :D

hehe not yet!! Although I'm sure they'll have something cool!

Welcome - you came to the right place for good advise!
Hopefully, with good pellets and the milk replacer, your "little man" will start gaining!
That original garbage has very little nutritional value - should be removed from store shelves!

I just went and bought an air conditioner for their room as well. It was hitting 85 degrees in their room. So this should help them be more comfortable now.
