I have the Carefresh Complete Menu food for my chin, but he's being really picky lately, and he'll just push aside the pellets. And I've been wondering if anyone knows a better brand, or something he won't be picky about, cause his cage is littered with that one pellet he picks out and it's driving me crazy cause it's such a mess-.-.

The problem with any brand of feed that has "treats" and things other than pellets mixed in is just that- the chins will pick out the good tasting stuff and leave behind the pellets. It's like handing a child a plate of broccoli and chocolate- they're going to eat the chocolate and leave the stuff that's good for them. Not to mention, they usually contain many ingredients that are actually not healthy or good for chins.

Oxbow is a very good feed and can be found in many pet stores. Other brands are Mazuri, Tradition, and some rabbit pellets such as Manna Pro Sho and Nutrena Naturewise, which can be found in feed stores or bought from various members on here.

He may boycott the new healthy pellet for awhile, but healthy chins won't starve themselves. Once he realizes he's not getting the food with all the yummy treats mixed in, he'll start eating the pellets.

I was thinking that was the problem, because this brand has vegetables in it. Thank you! I"ll go order one of the brands you mentioned.

I guess i got really lucky with my chins. When i took them in, they were eating a pet store food with a bunch of little 'treats' in it. When i switched them to Select Series Pro food, i started with a mix to wean them off. And they ate all the SSP and wouldn't touch the food or treats they were used to! From the very first feeding! I was amazed lol.

I ordered the Oxbow, and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. Thank you all for thw recommendations! I doubt he will ease into though.

Oxbow is a good one. I have one on Oxbow now and my girls are on Mazuri. My little guy was eating Oxbow when we took him in, but I had a ton of Mazuri, so I mixed the two to slowly switch him over. Well, he started picking out the Mazuri and only eating the Oxbow. I handed the girls one of the little dude's Oxbow pellets and they acted like it was a treat. So once they finish off their Mazuri, Everyone will be getting Oxbow. So, with any luck, your chin will like the taste of it too. Good luck :)
