Hey everyone! Today I noticed that, my new chin, a big female in the 780s, isn't pooping as much as normal. She has pooped maybe ten times since one pm. That's not nearly as much as normal.

I don't think she was given hay at her previous home, and I have given her a handful of Kaytee timothy hay each day.

I did give her a goji berry for the first time today.

In any case, what should I do? I have CC and LifeLine...

:confused3:

First thing I wouldn't do is give her a bunch of new stuff. If she gets sick you won't know what is causing it. I'd stick with pellets and hay.

I'd let her out to run, that gets the ol' digestive system moving, and keep an eye on her until tomorrow. Stress of a new place ( not sure how long you've had her ) and new stuff can slow things down.

Just keep an eye on her. Make sure she has plenty of hay at all times, and lay off treats for a while. If she's not pooping at all, give her a tummy rub and listen for gas...I wouldn't panic just yet, but make sure you pay close attention to her. Read up on the stasis article for some tips to promote motility. Most of them are for chins in bad states, but you might get an idea of what to look for/encourage.

Again, don't panic! She might just be acclimating and once she relaxes you'll find a big ol' poo pile in the morning.

She pooped much more over the night, and she's been consistently active. She was up all night destroying things - her favorite hobby. Her water bottle is working correctly. I'll rub her belly and read up on bloat/stasis.

Sounds like she was just nervous/acclimating then--she's probably just fine. I'd still lay off the treats until she gets used to things though.
