the long hair on top of her head. she has 3 of those. what is it and will it go away? shes about 3 months old

Persephone came with a few of those, they were knots in her fur. I'd examine it gently and see if it's a knot. They can be pulled out pretty easily.

While I agree and it's probably just loose fur, my boy Kipper has had a spot on his head where the fur has been longer ever since he was born (and he's now 6). It's so strange! I have even pulled it out on multiple occasions, and it grows back in, lol. Still don't know why he has it, but he's my little unicorn! I guess this could be the same thing? It is much longer fur than Kipper's though.

i think this lil chin's name needs to be Alfalfa! too cute!

i wouldn't worry at all about a few tufts of longer fur. it could be priming (old hair coming out to make room for new), could be from vigorous grooming from mommy chin or a cagemate from before you got him, or it could just be the way your chin's hair is.

LoL. Thanks for the sweet comments everyone :). She's a real sweety. i love her.

I have people that have this "problem" all the time. One lady brought a chin here for boarding and said that her chin always had a little fur sticking out of the top of her head. I reached in and the fur came right out with no force at all...it appeared to have been a tiny mat that had actually been growing out for a long time. Whenever I see a chin with a little loose fur like that I just remove it right away without even thinking about it.

I have a female like this, that is lazy about grooming, and gets these tuffs all the time. I just pull them out, but in her case she gets a good grooming by me! cute little chin btw, and congrats!
