ok...Lyn sent me an email with an update about the show and asked me to post it on here....so here it is:

Hey Chin Fans—are you on the fence about the upcoming chin show in Orlando? Would a temperature today of 75 help you decide? It’s been nice weather here and likely will continue SO if where you are it is NOT so nice, consider coming. And if you do come, WE ARE GOING TO FEED YOU the whole day long—breakfast (pastries and coffee), lunch (chicken club wrap, fruit, dessert) and the pizza social with the judge are all part of your registration. SO what are you waiting for? Come have some fun in the sun. If you have a special dietary need for lunch, let us know and we’ll have it.
AND right now the hotel (Holiday Inn, 5905 Kirkman Road, Orlando) does have a few rooms and WILL honor the $99/n price for SEC chinchilla show registrants—but you have to call M-F directly to the hotel and say “SEC Chin Show” to get it: 800-327-1364. An alternate pet-friendly hotel is nearby (l0 min drive) if they are sold out—Holiday Inn Sunspree (google that and you’ll get the details) at Lake Buena Vista.
BUT if you are coming, bring cash (you can still preregister with a check)—we can’t process credit cards or take checks at the show and there will be great raffle and vendor items, including two cages, a chin that got a lst at the Ohio show last year, ChinWorld wooden nest boxes, fleece hammocks and tubes, etc. AND there will be other chins for sale in the show and otherwise.
Come for fun, meet other chin folks, learn about chins, try to win some great raffle items, buy some chin stuff and just maybe buy a chin.
Cheers, Lyn Shuster, [email protected], 407-894-4070
Show schedule at a glance: 6-7, room set up (come help!), 8-l0 registration and breakfast, chin grooming and classification, l0-l2 start of judging, 12-1 BREAK for LUNCH, 1-3 complete judging with baby derby and raffle before the trophy presentations, 5 pm social with judge in her suite in the hotel.
Quick preregistration info:
1st registrant ($30), includes show book, lunch, breakfast, full showing privilege
2nd and others coming with you ($25 each), lunch, breakfast no show book, not showing chins
Showing chins? First chin $5, additional chins $4.50 (subtract .50 each if you are an MCBA member)
Baby Derby (3-6 month olds), $4.00 (no discount) each
SO email this back with your name, address, email and names of others coming with you, and then send a check made out to Lyn Sedwick Shuster, 3030 Lake Shore Drive, Orlando, FL 32803 (I can take a check if you can get it to me by 2-5).

Jennifer, I don't think people are just criticizing and ridiculing for the heck of it. I know I wasn't. I was seriously asking the question of if I was reading it correctly since I had just paid so little at the last show. I honestly just can't afford to go, like many others here. For me it would be an over $100 hotel stay and then paying for my husband and I to go, which would be $55 in itself. For us it just isn't worth the cost. I was all about going before I found out just how much it would be.

As I just emailed Lyn and told Ann this weekend, I would love to be there for what is very possibly the first MCBA show in florida but as I am unemployed right now it would take a lot of animals sales just to pay for gas and hotels to make the trip down and back. I need to check with some people to see if any other MCBA shows have been held over the years down there. I have been told that many many years ago in the hay day of chinchillas Florida would sometimes have two or three shows a month.

The post Essentia is replying to was deleted because it had no bearing on this thread, nor was it necessary. No one was attacking the chapter, simply stating that the fees were outrageous and impossible for most people to afford. Let's not turn this into an us versus them issue, please.

One would think the organizers of this show and those who plan to organize a show in the future would want constructive criticism in order to plan better shows in the future....and I believe that's exactly what this thread has turned into. A constructive criticism of the costs associated with this FL show.

I just got a report from the show room.

There are 77 animals entered in the show, plus a bunch of baby derby entries. Sounds like a good sized crowd, too!

Jags Grand Show was for sale and no one bought him. Sounds like everyone missed out on a nice animal.

Sounds like Lynn's white was HUGE. He is a rescue that she pulled out of breeding to show. He still showed really well, obviously!
