That is wrong on so many levels. Bad enough they are poodles to begin with, which makes them look whimpy, but to do that to them? That's stupid.

Yea some of them look neat (very creative) I can give you that much, but I can't help but feel sorry for the dogs. I personally don't like seeing dyed dogs like pink poodles and such. I can't believe people would have their dogs groomed like that. I think the standard grooming for poodles is elegant and should be kept that way instead of a circus show.

I don't see any harm in it as long as the dogs don't mind...lol. I like the panda the best. The buffalo and camel are neat too.

There's certainly no harm to the animal in it, beyond the odd nick from a pair of scissors, but really, if the only reason someone has that type of dog is to show off their grooming skills, maybe they should just stick with clay and let the animals enjoy being dogs, not art projects. :(

If someone did this to a Pink White or Mosaic chin, I'm sure a lot of people here would be beyond peeved. Wonder what Poodle and Bischon enthusiasts think of it?

These were created for creative grooming shows (do an image search for "creative grooming"). I believe that the poodles are not left that way for prolonged periods of time. I believe the dyes wash out (and of course, the accessories detach).

I saw the same photos on a link someone sent me a couple weeks ago... I think it was in the Telegraph. Yes, I was curious and looked up why people would do this to their dogs. What I want to know is, how long does it take to grow the hair back to a length that the poodle can be used in another show?

And standard poodles do not look wimpy. Most of those were standards.

Matter of opinion. I think they look wimpy and pouffy, just like any other poodle. Just because they are big, doesn't make them a less wimpy looking dog.

BTW, we used to have a standard poodle growing up. So yes, I've had one, and yes, I thought it looked like a girlie dog then too.

I think standard poodles are awesome. They are extremely smart and have a wicked sense of humor. Unfortunately we have a guy that comes into my job that breeds about 10 of these all the time so we see them frequently. They never give us trouble on the table.... unlike certain breeds LOL
