When I was younger I had a benign tumor growing on my index finger and had to have surgery to get it removed. And also, my mom had a lump that had to get removed which thankfully was just benign so I'm hoping yours is the same!

Wow, Chantel. You keep getting hit with 1-2 punches these days!

When I found a lump last year, my doctor took consideration of my *extensive* family history of cancers and had them do an ultrasound instead of a mammogram. It's a much more accurate test than a mammogram for a lot of women because the tissues don't get compacted as the image is taken. See if they can do that instead of the mammogram, or at least do the ultrasound *before* they use the hamburger press on your girls. (Besides which, if it's already touch sensitive, why smash it into a billion pieces and turn ol' Righty (or Lefty) technicolor with bruising?)

Great news!

Everything looks normal! Yay!!! One test was a bit unclear or something so I need one more brain scan, but I think everything is just fine. I do have an MRI on Monday for the lump in my breast/rib pain so hopefully that will answer that question, and maybe get some relief for that pain. I am so relieved, and I think I have learned not to freak out when a doctor jumps to some silly conclusion. Thank you so much for all your prayers.

I think they were worried about the one test because when they looked they couldn't find a brain LOL! they didn't want to alarm you!!!
Did you have ultrasound and mammogram for the breast?

Thank you ladies! I did have a mammogram scheduled, but with the pain in my rib area, if the mammogram is anything like I imagine, it will hurt so bad. So I think I will get the MRI of the rib area first, to see what is going on. Then I will get a mammogram, or at least talk to my gyno about it. I am not going to freak out because some random Dr. felt a lump. But I obviously won't ignore it either. And thanks Laurie, you always make me feel better.

I had a mammogram about a year and a half ago and honestly, didn't feel a thing. It honestly wasn't even uncomfortable. Now I WILL say that the lady that did it said that it's usually that way if you're "well endowed" - and that I am. Soooooo.....

Glad everything else has turned out okay...

And also, it could just be that you have fibrous breast tissue - I do and they always feel "lumpy." Course I also have had sebaceous cysts removed from both of my breasts and they were VERY uncomfortable prior to their removal - so I have 'been there, done that' on all accounts.

Amanda- did the sebaceous cysts hurt so much you could mistake it for a broken rib? Like when I blow my nose, or bend down, it hurst SO much, like I would have sworn it was broken. I unfortunetly am not well indowed, and it would probably hurt- but if they recommend it after the MRI, I will get it. Maybe an ultrasound will be ok as well. My gyno can do that at his office. I do think I just have lumpy ****s! Lol. About 5 years ago my gyno freaked my out and said I needed an ultrasound because he felt a fairly large lump in my left breast. There was nothing. This is the exact same spot so I am thinking it is nothing, but just hoping I don't need it removed, because I really don't want to deal with surgery again! Do they alwayss remove the cysts? My sebaceous cysts were more toward the surface (although not directly on it),but honey, let me tell you, they hurt so much that I had to quit wearing my seat belt and darn near quit wearing my bra because the pressure of those things would cause pain so intense I would literally cry. I can imagine that if the cysts had have been located deeper that it would have felt like my ribs were broken...yes. I honestly don't know what causes the cysts - other than it being a pocket in the tissue that fills with infection and the pocket aka sac has to be removed or else the infection will more than likely always return. They tried aspirating (drawing the infection off with a very large needle) several times, and tried strong antibiotics but nothing worked. I had to have the sacs removed under general anesthesia and since then, I haven't had any trouble.

Chantel they don't always remove them but if your doctor recommends them being removed you should definitely do it. You don't need to be suffering through that. And you should also do what I tell you and pack some fat on girlfriend! Come to Wisconsin and eat some brats and cheese curds with me and I'll fatten you up in no time! Damian probably likes a "traditionally built" gal anyway!!! LOL!!!

It can be uncomfortable if you're not large breasted, but it's not excruciating. My friends and I compared notes and they said it felt pretty much for them like it did for me, more of a pressure feeling, but they had a bit more pulling because they needed to get the breast into the machine. They said it was nothing that made them want to cry or anything.

Have you asked your doctor about laser mammography? Since it was developed right there in Florida, you would think someone in the area would have it available. It's pain free and, supposedly, more accurate than a regular mammogram, especially if you have dense fibrocystic breasts.

I have had Mammograms. They are not painful, at least to me. But I have a lot to 'put up on the table'. AS Tunes said, the smaller breasted women have a harder time getting the breast onto the table.

So now the MRI found 2 foci of hyperintensity in my breast/chest where the pain is, so I guess I need an Mammogram after all. I can't seem to find anything about what that means?
