So, I went to see a breast surgeon yesterday. She felt my breast, and told me that she did not think it was suspicious, and to come back in 6 months! I told my regular doctor and he thought that was just horrible and to never go back to her. He said even if it is not cancer, which it really does not look like, they should do a biopsy. And since it is causing me so much pain, my blood pressure is really high, my pulse is through the roof and I am just in so much pain, a sharp stabbing nerve pain. I am losing more weight, and am just a mess.

So, my doctor is calling his friend, another surgeon who is aggressive with surgery and treatment and hopefully I can see him next week. Until then I just have to deal with pain and pain meds and all that fun stuff. But, I am so very happy they don't think it is cancer, but will feel better once I get a biopsy.

Oh my gosh, that is just terrible! I'm so sorry about everything you are going through. It's situations like these that make me lose faith in the medical community, but it's good that your regular doctor is watching out for you.

I just caugh up with your thread. I'm really sorry you don't have luck with the doctor you saw, I hope the next one will be willing to take the lump out and make you feel better.

I'm glad you're keeping us updated with whats going on. My heart goes out to you and
hang in there sweetie!!

New news/update

The is just such a royal mess! The breast doctor thinks the lumps, which are in the exact same spot as my pain, are completely unrelated. I as well as my regular doctor disagree.

So now off to a new surgeon. It is very hard to schedule visits around my work schedule since I am still new and can't be too needy. So I try to sneak off to doctor apps during my lunch break, or find the only clinic that opens on Saturday or late, which are not always the best doctors.

Anywa, my doctor now thinks that a bundle of nerves that go from your spinal cord and kind of end up in/around your ribs are the problem. He thinks the lump is pressing on that nerve bundle, which is so painful I throw up from the pain often, even with strong pain medication. He sceduled ANOTHER MRI of the breast and thorac (sp?), so hopefully they can find anything. Anyway, hopefully one of these surgeons will take it out- my blood pressure is 180/120 instead of my normal 118/80, so that is not good. Pain does that I guess.

The doctor also said that this surgery is very difficult and specific, and he may not even be able to do it. Nerves are hard to see, he said. I just want answers, and most of all the pain to go away. It sure is amazing at how pain can just take complete control of your life and there is not a darn thing you can do about it. It really sucks. :banghead:

I'm really sorry that this process is so long and complicated. I really hope you won't be anymore in pain soon

I'm sorry this is such a mess you.
We'll all keep our fingers and paws crossed that they find and fix the problem soon!

Wow, I just now came upon this thread. What a time you're going through. I hope they can get it figured out and taken care of soon. That's horrible that you've been having to deal with that ongoing pain.

Wow. No end in sight yet then. Though, if your doctor seems to think that it's nerve pain, not the lump itself, look into a drug called Neurotin, a pain reliever that specifically targets nerve pain instead. Not sure if it'll work in your case, but if it helps with the pain, it might be worth a try (and it's available in a generic too so it might not be as expensive as some other options). I'm keeping you in my happy thoughts.

Owww, things are supposed to be going better and crap it's not! Definately you're under stress and boy i sure would be too. Sending my best wishes and feel better really, really soon--give yourself that "TLC" and hug a chinnie too (that always does it for me!)

So happy! We found a surgeon that is going to operate and he said he didn't know why the last surgeon did not do it. We are trying for Friday, as long as the insurance works out and everything, so please keep me in your prayers. Finally some relief! Just goes to prove you really need to fight to get things done.

Congratulations - - finally someone that wants to give you some relief!
Bet that pain kept you from worrying about other things, though!!

Good news Chantel! I know you might not feel like posting Friday but see if Damian can let us know what's going on and how you're doing!!! Eat lots of chocolate and ice cream during recovery!!! Wish I could send you some good old Cheese curds!!!! or Tremblay's fudge!

Well, good deal--hopefully, very soon you'll be back to your ole' self (pain free ole' self)!!

Surgery is at 1pm today! I have to go in around 9 so the radiologist can put a wire (ouch!) in the mass so the surgeon can take it out. I am a little nervous, but know I will hopefully wake up in less pain than I am in now.
