Hi

Where you able to contact the Sudbury vet? they might have a bit lower price, and my mom offered for you to stay at her place if you need to stay overnight, let me know

I have a suggestion.
As a breeder it is your job to help your customer.
I assume you have an excellent knowledgable exotic vet.. you or familly can make arrangements for you or familly (since you are a team) to make monthly payments or get vet credit card.

If you do not have a knowledgable vet., surely you have the time to call around for one since you are unemployed. This will avoid long distance call for Proundmom.

By doing this, this will allow Jade to get care asap, you will avoid owing money to Proudmom and you might gain a little respect from myself and maybe others.

Hi

Yes, I was I already trying to help as much as I can, because I know is my duty to make sure that the customer is alright, and do my best, and yes, I was thinking on that payment plan thing, I just didn't have a chance to suggest it, but I did phone my vet in Timmins, and proudmom told me she had already phoned sudbury, but as for Timmins, they told me that they wouldn't be able to let me know the cost of the amputation as they need to see Jade to know for sure, and the examination cost is $46.60, the thing is that is hard to know where to go first, when you don't know an approximate price, proudmom can decide to come to Timmins or Sudbury just to have an estimate and the cost might be almost the same as the vet in her town, so it would be like a waste of money and time, and it is difficult to know which vet to choose, because it needs to be done as soon as possible, I am just hoping that everything works out good though.

Oh, and yes, both vets in Sudbury and Timmins are good ones, and I have used the vet in Timmins and my parents the one in Sudbury, and the are quite good with chins.

Hi

Yes, I was I already trying to help as much as I can.

Well, it has been more than a week. So this is not a good answer.
Okay, I have an estimate here in Québec of 500$ for the amputation, 55$ for the exam, 70$ appox. for x-ray plus tax = 705.50$ for the vet.
Add to that, 175$ of transportation, 26 hours of driving. (Me)

therefore an estimate of 880.50$ canadian, not bad of an estimate hen!

I'm going to say the same thing here I said in the other thread - leave the wrangling of what's "right" between the people who are actively involved with this chin, and it needs to be done privately. This thread is about a raffle, not finger pointing. Please don't put the forum in the position of having to shut all this down and delete it.

If you want to help Proudmom, please focus on her and her injured chin, not on Kathiva and whoever else.

As to the cost, it is for sure a better price than the $1,600, so hoping it works out good, just wondering if in Sudbury would cost about the same, too bad they didn't want to say, I cannot afford the whole amount right now, but will try to help out with some funds as soon as I can.

I just wanted to mention something, Jade probably wouldn't be able to cross over the border to the USA. I know when I had to get the regulations for Patty's trip across to New Orleans from Toronto, they were very clear that the animal had to be healthy and to prove it a vet's health certificate would be proof.

Thanks for the info! I never even thought of that. It would not have been nice to be turned away at the border. I will broaden my Canadian vet search then.

Was able to get an answer from the vet from Timmins, and they said that $500 would be the max that the could charge for an amputation, so it would cost anything between $500 and less than that, and the cost of the examination is only $46.60, and and x-ray costs about $120, but that is only in the case she needs to get one.

Another update.

I just got a call from my vet and Dr. Taylor...the guy in charge of the Small Animal Clinic at the OVC (Ontario Veterinarian College) in Guelph. After discussion of the situation they have come up with the following action plan to be carried out here. Dr. Taylor feels that a 7+hr trip would be too much stress on an already fragile little chin that he isn't 100% certain needs an amputation. I am assuming he is saying this as there was no x-ray done. So anyways...

I will meet with my vet tomorrow to get Jade put onto a stronger antibiotic and also to FINALLY get her x-ray. Yay! At that point, if an amputation is needed than I will try to get the services as close to home as possible...to eliminate the stress of travel with a surgical wound.

Hopefully this ordeal will be all over soon. I will be sure to update tomorrow!

Good Luck PM & Jade!! Just make sure you have critical care or Essentials for Life on hand as a stronger antibiotic will probably affect her appetite.
