Poor Jade the chinchilla is acquiring many vet bills and might need her leg amputated. I am offering a Kristine Kasheta painting to be raffled off and ALL proceeds will go to help the vet costs for Jade the chinchilla.
Proudmom is having financial difficulties and needs our help. It is a beautiful painting of two standard chinchillas on 12 by 12 inch hardboard....signed by Kristine. Tickets are 2.00 each or 3 for 5.00 and paypal is accepted. Please click on the link to my web site for more details.
Thank you!

I think helping Proudmom out is great. I'm sure this is beyond stressful...and I applaud your initiative.

But...I thought Kathiva was paying for Jade's vet bills....

HI....not as far as I know...that is why I am doing this. Jen shouldn't have to pay for this, and she has already fallen in love with Jade. Jen and I have been corresponding a lot and she has become a friend, and I want to help.
I can only IMAGINE the price of an amputation if that is the route that needs to be taken. In any event, I wanted to do what little I could do help a good person in a bad situation.

I also applaud the initive, but I don't understand why she is paying anything for the vet bills...

I thought the breeder was paying for it because the injury happened in her care?

Edit: You answered the question before I got mine posted. I won't take up anymore of this thread to say exactly what I think about that as this is not what the thread is for. I hope she is able to raise enough money to pay for this surgery, especially since she shouldn't be having to pay a penny.

I just received a call back from the vet. The total cost of the amputation for Jade will be $1,620.89. Ouch!

That's what I said Cathy. I about passed out at the cost.

Hi

Sorry, but I am helping her out, I told her that I would be willing to pay some of the amount of the vet bill, since I am unemployed, I cannot afford the whole amount, but I told her as soon as I am able to raise some money from the sale of some of my chins, I would give it to her, and my mom will be gathering some money with my sisters to help Jade out too.

Hi

Where you able to contact the Sudbury vet? they might have a bit lower price, and my mom offered for you to stay at her place if you need to stay overnight, let me know

They will not tell me the cost of amputation until they see her...which would be the exam fee of $80+ GST as well as travel to Sudbury (appx. $60).

If that is the cost of the exam fee than I can just imagine the cost of the amputation...since that is the highest exam fee I have come across. Since you have dealt with them before, perhaps they will be more apt to giving you an estimate?

That is good to hear!

Okay...I emailed a vet in Detroit, MI. The vet was super friendly and said the appx. cost of an amputation would be $300-350US. What a difference. Now to try and find a way to get there. It is appx. 8hrs from here.

This is hopeful news. :)

If I was closer, I'd offer you a bed for the night. Maybe there is someone else up that way that can help you out? I know several of our forum members here work at hotels. Maybe there is someone in that area.

That's an incredible difference in price. I hope you are able to get down here to take advantage of it.

Also, could you look into Care Credit? Or talk with the vet. Some are willing to take payments if you let them know your financial situation.

Wishing the best for you and Jade.

I would be willing to donate a set of wooden perches and ledges as a raffle prize if that would help raise money to assist with the medical costs.

The items would be similar in size to what I sent along with Fritz for Essentia. PM me if you want to work out details, I do not however have the time to run or deal with the details of the actual raffle or auction format.
