I am going to go and pick up a FN 142, that I found on Craigslist today. Need to know what tools to take with to disassemble it to get it into my SUV? Getting it for an amazingly low pric:dance3:e. What are the chances it could be in bad shape, photos of it looked ok.

I bought a used one that was caked in old pee and other grime. The previous owner had hosed it down and left in in the rain, so there was some rust around the screws and joints when I picked it up. I used CLR to clean the rust, then scrubbed it with a brilla pad and hot soapy water. Once it had dried I cleaned it one more time with water and soap just to make sure there was no chemical residue from the CLR. It took a lot of work to clean up, but it's fine now. Hope yours is in better shape!

Thanks for the suggestions on how to clean it up. Should have reread the posting before asking how to do it in another post. Anyhow, cage does need some repairs but DH will be able to spot weld it in a place or two. I also need a new pan for the second level and a little door in case I need to separate the top and bottom level.

just picked up a used one and it has a lot built in crust which seems to be impossible to take off. i tried an all purpose cleaner but that didnt work. Anything else I can try to take off this nasty yellow crusty stuff on the plastic panels? i will try bleach next. it smells awful but i got the cage for a really low price.
