Gaining Trust

I have had my 2 girls for about 3 weeks...i can hold them and touch them(sometimes).i was just wondering if there was a way to hold them and socialize with them without chasing or anything like that......any ideas??





P.S
They are both about 4 years old and i dont know if i should keep their old names....if i would change them...would it confuse them??

They do learn their names. One I had was a rescue chin and I never knew her name. We renamed her Luna because she was big round and grey like the moon. She learned it and would come when called.

As for gaining trust. Don't frighten them by chasing them. They have a good memory and tend to hold a grudge. Best thing is to trap them in a small box or the dust bath to get them. I put some loose 4" PVC pipe in the cage and when they hide inside I just pick it up and pour her out. No stress.

PVC is a type of plastic which you should know does harm to chinchillas :/
They cant digest plastic so it gets stuck in there system and causes blockages and all sorts of problems.
