Hi everyone! I've been having a problem with Gary lately. He doesn't seem much for chewing on the wood thats in his cage and seems like he has less energy. He also has been more anti social and has been biting when he used to nibble. I switch his cage around and add/subtract toys to always keep him from getting bored. What could be wrong with him? I took him to a chin specialist about a month ago and they said his teeth were good. Could he just not have to chew for a little bit til his teeth grow? - Also, he was a hair biter when I first got him and it has since grown back so I dont think he is stressed..

could be he doesn't like the wood, what kind is it? my guys love applewood. if he does have less energy though, that could be serious. lethargy is critical and should be dealt with immediately. if he seems to go from less energetic to lethargic, make sure you have an e-vet handy. sometimes chins have off-days just like people.

Hi,

Yes when they are legthargic that is a sign something is wrong, please make a vet appt and let us know how you make out.

As for teh chewing, they do get tired of chewing on teh same items, so a change would be a great idea. :)

Well he has aspen platforms that he can jump and play on that he used to chew a lot but now barely does. I also give him apple wood often. He used to chew up the entire stick I'd give him pretty quickly but now will nibble the end a little bit and lose interest in it. Since i've been paying attention to his energy levels, he seems about normal. only difference is, he doesn't like being in his cage. Any time i open the door, he tries to get out. I give him plenty of out of cage play time but he acts like he wants to be out all the time.
