I bought Gary a Cuttle bone today because I read on here that it is good for them. However, Gary has been chewing on it so much that I wouldn't doubt that he'll eat it all by tonight. Is it safe for him to have that much in such a short time period? I pulled it out for now but I still don't know how much he can have at a time. Any help is appreciated!!

You only want to supplement calcium if there is a medical reason, too much can potentially cause bladder or kidney stones (this is debated) but too much calcium actually cause a deficiency when the body rids itself of too much calcium.Calcium to phosphorus ratio needs to be 2:1, when out of balance by giving too much calcium, calcium will be excreted.

White teeth are a visual sign. Seizures are a extreme symptom. If the chin is not in breeding, is on a good quality pellet and hay, has not had a long term medical illness then they should be fine and not need calcium.

Ok. thanks for the advice! Its probably not necessary at this point then.. his teeth are yellowish/orange n he seems like his normal self. but at least now I know what to watch for and have it on hand just in case. Thanks again!
