I am soooo sorry to keep asking questions about this cage...LOL....last one I promise!!

Do all of you keep the 2 levels in your CN 162/FN 142? My problem is....Kunya has a cage with ramps/ladders now, so I didn't know if he would be ok with leaving the ladders in the cage?

The picture on the box has 3 chinnies and still has the ladders attached (but it also has the small plastic pans too!) So I am just confused! I wanna get this right before I build everything. Suggestions?

Thanks!!

No one is annoyed by questions :) Always ask.

I have two levels in my FN 142 and although the picture for the critter nation shows chins and ladders, they really dont need them and they are too dangerous to leave them in. Chins legs can get stuck and they can break them :( They are actually much happier to jump. The plastic pans are okay for now if you cover them with something like fleece until you can get other ones (as long as your chin isnt a heavy plastic chewer).

My reccomendation is to keep the pans for now, throw out the ladders (or sell them) and leave the shelves until you can get wood ones which chins LOVE!! hope that helps :)

Oh I am glad you guys don't get annoyed by my questions...LOL! That's what I thought...they could get a leg stuck and have a broken foot/leg, that would be terrible!!

So can I leave the 2 seperate levels and have ledges up to the shelves? I bought a few already! I just want to have the seperate levels because I got him a variety of toys and accessories to put in his cage.

I met him on Sunday and from what I saw he is heavy chewer, so I ordered Bass pans too!!

Thanks again!!

Did you order the bass pans for the FN? If so, I'm not sure if the CN is the same dimensions as the FN. I may be mistaken though.

Definitely leave the ramps out, chinnies are bouncers and hop from shelf to shelf. They won't need the ramps.

Here is a picture of one of my cages (FN) that have both floors to give you some ideas, though :)

Thanks Stackie! Nice cage and chinnies of course! Yes the CN is the same dimentions as the FN....believe me - I did the research!! LOL! Thanks for the picture to help me and I will definately NOT put the ladders in :) You guys are the best!!

I just got an FN, and I'm going to keep the "levels" rather than remove the middle pan to have one big, open cage. The boys' "Daddy" is a little paranoid about them falling the whole height of the cage. So, the middle pan stays (for me, at least).

I am keeping my levels too. I am afraid of falls!! Better safe than sorry, right? :)

well I think most people have seen my cage, so I won't post another pic here but I took out the middle pan and put in a ton of ledges, my girls LOVE to run up and down the cage. For me it was also one less pan to worry about, one less liner to worry about, etc. I just think the key thing is if you decided to take the middle pan out, you need to have enough ledges and you need to have them in the right places. As I was placing the ledges, I put Maddie into the cage (my older, less crazy chin), I had all 4 doors off, so I was right in the cage with her (so to speak :D) and I watched her make her way around the cage, this allowed me to see spots where I needed to add a ledge, move one and so on.

I love your cage, Suzi....it is amazing! I am working on building the perfect cage! I need a few more ledges I think....I posted Kunya's cage in this section, so you will have to see. I want to get a bridge too...those are so nice!
