Hey everybody so you may think this is weird but right now in the uk we're having a heat wave  but anyway i need to know ways to cool the cage down without AC????

When owning chins having an AC is necessity. That being said, for short term mild cooling, you can refrigerate a tile or piece of granite and put it in the cage. People also use frozen water bottles wrapped in fleece. These suggestions are not a replacement for an AC unit. You may want to invest in a reasonable window unit that you can use only when the temperature gets on the warmer side.

ive only had my chins since jan, and what ever i get i spend on them for toys and food, this is rarly we have a heat wave in the uk

in the room it is 23.9 celcius and outside is 27 celcius, ive got frozzen bottles which ive just put in the cage like you said and just about to do the slate for them thank you for your help

I would not let it get any warmer than 23.9...and even that is pushing it. If it gets to 27 celcius inside, even with a frozen water bottle you may have a dead chinchilla.

Im doin everythin to cool the room down, just a decent ac unit wha doesnt pump water vapour in the air for £300 which at the moment i cant afford.

They've just come onto my lap and let me check them they feel cool and lillys ears are normal colour so hopefuly this weather cools down and we get a nice breeze!:banghead:

My girl LOVES ice cubes. I put one in her treat bowl and she just munches away and when it starts to melt, she'll just lick it. I have to watch her to make sure she doesn't pick it up and carry it away because I don't want her cage or herself getting wet. I put her filtered water in the ice cube tray, I'm not sure how safe it would be to feed them tap water cubes? But the ice seems to help and my chin loves it so it might be worth a try.

Ive been doing that, they love it sookie tried to carry it away but i stopped her and she started licking it, i think im going to have to save up and get a decent ac unit

Its really needed. You might think that its just a brief heat wave, but for a comparison try spending all day locked in a sauna....a day of high temp can be lethal. :(

My AC is something I'm rather paranoid about maintaining and making sure it's in working order. If it gets questionable, I arrange to keep my chins at a relative's until it gets repaired.

We lost electricity during a heat wave for 48 hours, I put granite in the base of the cage and lifted it onto a table. Then I bought some dry ice and placed it under the table. You have to have airflow because dry ice pulls oxygen out of the air and follow the rest of the safety procedures for handling it. But you could do that for maybe a day or two, and then you'd definitely need to buy an ac. I don't know about the u.k. but around here places like walmart and kmart sell them for pretty cheap as the weather gets warmer.
