Oh ok i will be sure to do that. So would you think i would need a room for sat night too? What time is the show? About how long is it? I will not be showing any chins this year. This is my first show so i am just going to be learning. Hopefully buying too. Lol i already told hubby i wanted to buy a chin or two. The 28th is our anniversary so i told him he had to. I can't wait to go and meet everyone.

Its kind of up to you. We like to stay Saturday and visit with everyone. The show should be over by 4:00 or so, depending on how many animals there are in the show. The show starts at 10:00 Saturday. If you get there early you can watch people groom and talk to them. If you have questions just ask, none of us bite and we like to talk chinnies.

WOO HOO!!! This time next Friday night we'll all be in Crawford getting ready for the show on Saurday!!! Can't wait to see everyone again!!!

Vickie, if I take the back way (not on I-70), where do I turn off for Crawford??? Does Highway 50 connect with Colo. 92 at about Sapinero, it looks like on my map, and cut across the black Canyon, OR do I go on to Montrose and Delta and then back around??? If that's the case, I think I-70 and then over McClure Pass is faster. Is 92 a pretty decent road???

It will be good to see you again Lynn. Its been 2 years since we went thru the canyon and up. The road was in good shape, but it is slow going. The only reason we were thinking of going that way was so Dan could see Black Canyon. I would think it would be quicker for you to go I-70 and down thru Glenwood Spgs. You turn off to 92 is about 15 or so miles past Montrose. Like I said it is slow going that way, but scenic wise its worth it. How we get there kind of depends on your weather. Roger promised good weather, we'll see.:hammock: I'm going to call Roger on Thursday and see the best way for us to come.

Sigh... I'm jealous. I can't be with oyu guys this year. :( Hopefully next year....
Have a great time!!! Have some fun for me, too, please!!

Next year. Wendy and you and a road trip with us and Dan.

Ok that is what i wanted to know. I will make reservations for saturday night too. I wasn't sure how long the show lasted. How early can we show up? Are we able to talk with everyone afterwards as well? How about the judges? If you want to buy a chin when do you buy it? Thanks

I think set-up starts around 5;00 on Friday. We usually get there about 4-5 so we can help with set-up. Everyone in the audience are judges. They draw names and 2-3 people go up and place the animals, then the audience votes on the CC and RCC. This is a lot of fun and there is usually someone up there, like one of us old timers to help. At the end of the show they bring the CC back up and we all vote on the GS and RGS. Most of the time we are there until fairly late setting up and thats a good time to look at the animals and ask questions to. You can claim the animals at any time during the show. You just go up and tell them you want to claim cage number 4 or whatever cage number you want.

Oh wow i didn't know that the audience was the judge. That is weird. Sounds like fun tho. Can't wait.............

Yay i made my reservations.......yipee.........hopefully the weather holds out.

Yep, i am. Friday and saturday night. I am stoked to meet anyone. Is there anything i need to bring? Know? Before i come? Does anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like in co?

I've been watching it from the Missouri side and it looks like it might rain, but no snow. I'm going to call Roger and see what it is supposed to be like there Friday and what the best way for us to come is. It has been perfect the last 2 years and I hope it is this year to.

I have never been up there so i have no idea. I just map quested it for directions to see how to get there. Are you staying at the crawford hotel? Is it nice? From what i read, crawford is a small town. Is there places to eat? I will have my kids with me i think. Also do you know if there is a way to check the weather there? Like a web-site or phone # ? Do a lot of people come to the show? How many chins are usually shown? Sorry for the hundred questions. I like to be prepared. I also am just sooo excited i finally get to go. I've owned chinnies for many years and have always wanted to go but something always seems to happen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for all your help tho. I really appreciate it.

Hi, Ann. Crawford is pretty much what some people refer to as a "wide spot in the road". It is a cute little town, though, and the scenery is wonderful. The people and chins are what it's all about!!! Roger and Kathy Clark are fabulous hosts and welcome everyone!!!

The Crawford Country Store has anything you might need, and the rooms are nice, if a bit spartan. This is no 5-star hotel, but I'm telling you, if a prissy girl like me can say she had a great time and is looking forward to going again this year, well, then, without knowing you, I think that you'll have a fine time!!!

They have a website: http://www.crawfordcountrystore.com/

For weather, I suggest that you go to weather.com and customize your own weather page. You can pick 4 or 5 cities to appear on your page and then you can get local and 5-7 day forecasts. Right now (9:39 P.M.), the current temp in Crawford is 52 degrees and cloudy. The weekend forecast is for 43 to 58 with showers on Friday, and sunny by Sunday. Like the weather in Wyoming, it is subject to change without notice, so I'd plan to dress in layers and bring something for any conditions. :)

Plan on meeting some great people, with loads of chinchilla knowledge and experience, seeing some great animals and having a wonderful time as a participant in the show. The best part is getting to be up close and personal and hearing the judges' comments about each chinchilla. You will learn so much and have so much fun, that you'll be the one raving about this show next year!!!

Can't wait to meet you...

I can't add anything to what Lynn has told you. We are traveling 14 hours to get there and this is our 3rd year in a row, so we wouldn't miss it. The scenery is wonderful and like Lynn said, Roger and Cathy are great hosts. Its getting to be kind of like a big family reunion. Looking forward to seeing you for the second time this year Lynn and to meeting you Ann.

Thanks and i am also looking forward to meeting you all.

Ya i'm freaking out a little. It is snowing here like crazy. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to check road conditions from here to there without having to look up each state seperately. Anyone know? Anyone else driving through the snow? Thanks

I don't think we will hit snow until Denver area. We'll see what happens. If we have to we'll stop and drive on in early Saturday morning. I get really nervous driving in snow, so maybe I'll just hide in the back seat and cover my head up. I think you'll probably have to go state by state for road conditions. Travel safe.
