I was playing in the bathroom with my chinchilla and this HUGE spider came out of nowhere. i freaked and had to grab my chin and put him into his travel case and take him back into my room and put him into his main cage. i eventually killed the spider and alittle while later when into my room. My chin had his ears pinned back. It was the first time hes done that and ive had him for 2 weeks. hes five years old and im his new owner. It was out of character or so i think. Do you think he was just afraid with how quick i had moved him?

iv seen my chincs ears in plenty of positions. up and perky, layd back and down. bent in half (so strange looking), one up one down lol.

Ida done the same thing tho. I dont like spiders, and im kinda over protective with my chins. I never wanna risk anything happening. I would imagin the chin might have been a bit shocked and alerted by the sudden and fast moving. But normaly theyll get over it.

I went in later and he was fine. This morning when i put alittle bit of food in his bowl so he can munch on it if he wakes up, his ears were fine. They werent down and he didnt look scared. I think he was just shocked because i grabbed him so fast and moved him into his main cage. THis thing was huge though and it got SO close to my chin. Idk if the spider fell on him or not but i FREAKED and i could tell carl wasnt too happy about it either. I beleive the spider fell on him and he ran. <3 My poor chin, :cry3:

sounds like your chin may have been a bit scared with all the commotion. he'll be fine.

as for spiders, i'm not allowed to kill them in the apartment if my kiddo is home, lol! she makes me capture them and put them outside, even if it's winter. same with moths, they are 'part of nature' and require capture and release.

be glad she doesnt live with me then... i dont like spiders and im certinly not getting close enough to capture one'

Lol well i dont like spiders either. My mom says there fair game if there in the house. They should no not to come inside xD Carls fine now. He's his usual self.

I can't bring myself to kill most insects that enter my household. Except mosquitos, I'll slaughter any mosquito I see. But if I saw a spider or other insect near my Chin cage I may have to make an exception.

mosquitoes are the only bug i'm 'allowed' to kill in the house, lol! one time a bee got in and i had to capture and release it! when the chins aren't ruling the roost, my kiddo puts on a pretty good dictator face, hahaha!
