No one thinks it a bit odd to name it the same name? I think that makes it sound as if pets are replaceable.
I am sorry you lost your original chin, but me personally I could not name an animal the same thing, even as a nick name as the one I lost.

Well his full name is Squeak Bowie. The Squeak because he responded immediately to the name and Bowie because his fur in the same color and poofiness as David Bowie's in Labyrinth. And pets aren't replaceable, but our new little friend fills the gap left by Squeak the First.
