Hi everybody i am going to be recieving a flying saucer wheel from Chinworld soon (i hope) and i was wondering if it will be quiet enough for me to have in my room to sleep with. Also i was reading somewhere about a block of wood you are supposed to put under it for stability or something?

Thank you!:help:\

EDIT: Also The wheel i have right now is unacceptable but kiwi seems to love it for some reason lol almost everytime i walk into room she is sitting (never sleeping) in it with her feet out to the side it is really funny. It is this wheel:http://www.petco.com/product/14921/...-8381-DE11-B7F3-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA

ALso any tips on teaching her how to run in her new wheel when it comes?

What type of cage are you putting it in? Some cages are flimsier so they make noise when the chin jumps around.

As far as the wheel itself, I have 3 of them and the wheels are quiet, the only thing is if they go full speed, the cage bars may rattle.

You don't have to put a block of wood under the wheel, but you can if you want. I think it probably would help prevent the cage bars from rattling though.

All 5 of my chins were able to figure out the flying saucer no problem. Even the one that I got as an adult who had never run on a wheel in her life. Just put it in there and give it time. Normally they figure it out on their own after a bit.

I have my flying saucer in a critter nation and dont use anything for support under it. I had it in a super pet cage before and had to put a pvc tube under it, mainly because the entire cage rattled. But if the cage is very sturdy you dont need anything.

Cage

My cage isnt the best at all because it just seems like 3 wire sheets welded together and then it sits on a deep plastic pan that kiwi can reach so it does shake when she runs on her wheel. Is there anything that i can to to help with that problem?

EDIT: I can just pull up on the top of the cage and it will come up

Do you have any shelves going across the length of the cage from front to back? I've always found that one long shelf stuck in there tight helps with the stability of the cage.

ETA: oh, so the cage isn't attached to the base? Is it light enough that with her bouncing around she could knock it over? That would worry me..

I had a saucer in my Ferret Nation, and as long as I had a piece of wood under it for support I could sleep just fine. If that piece of wood moved, I knew it in a heartbeat because it would be sooooooooooo loud.

So is she not an adult? Well, in either case, chins wall surf, and when my girls get going, they definitely would be able to tip something over if it isn't attached!

I wonder if there's a way for you to get clips to clip it down?

If you have a deep plastic pan the only way I know to attatch it is like this. Make a 12 inch wide wood shelf, and attatch it to the wire and the shelf w/ the u-bolts. You will need to go to the hardware store to get longer U-bolts to go threw the wood shelf. Put it as close to the botom as you can.

A lot of people have good luck with Craigs list. I got a good price on ebay and that included shipping. And I know that others will give you some websites that have good deals sometimes.
Good luck!
