I'll definitely be buying some Shahna!

I can't wait for the show! We're only a week and a half away! I'll be bringing about 13 chinchillas. I'm going to be looking closely at all the chins over the next few days and I might pull a few standards from breeding so we have a bit more learning material! Can't wait to see everyone again (especially my giggle brigade :neener: )!

I think I'll be bringing 12 to this one. I have 7 other youngsters I could also bring if need be but I think they're just a little too young at this point. Who knows though, I may decide to bring a few of them anyway.

My friend Erika will be bringing 3.

I'm bringing both of my boys. My ebony Edgar is a little small but his breeder thought he looked good. Our mosaic has been shown and is older but we thought that it would be fun to show him again. Their breeder is going to help me so I am sure it will be a wonderful learning experience.

Just made my reservations for the hotel, I can't wait! But I only have very small show sting I am bringing maybe 5 to 7 chins. But its going to be fun!! :dance3:

Awesome! I can't wait to meet you in person, Jazicat!

It'll be great seeing you again Summer! I can't wait for this show! All the chinnies coming to the show from here are getting their daily dustbaths and getting ready!

Myself and My twin sister are hopefully going to be able to make it! It will be our first chinchilla show so we will pack the paper and pencils to take notes. I can't wait to meet some amazing chinchilla breeders and learn more about these wonderful shows!

Are you bringing chins to show as well? That's the best way to get the full experience! Everyone is friendly and can help you out if you need help grooming, filling out entry forms, etc. I brought my pet chin to my first chin show just so I could learn to groom and see her in the show just for fun... and she ended up taking Class Champion!

I agree with Sumiko! If you have a chinnie you can bring it'll make the show just that much more fun for you! You don't need combs, someone will come over and either show you how to groom or groom the chin for you, depending on what you are comfortable with. ;)

It'll be great meeting you! If you have any questions or want to know who anyone is at the show. Look for the redhead at the table, that's Cara and she can point me or Sumiko out for you and we'll help you out. Hope to see you there!

Thank you for your advice and comfort. We are now definitely thinking about bringing an ebony male down to go have some fun with and see how he does. Thanks everyone!

I was just sitting here wondering and reading about the chinchilla shows...is there anything specific I need to bring? Such as chairs, newspaper for cleaning ect. We are taking our Ebony Male, is there anything specific I need to do or take for him. I am just looking for ideas to put on my checklist and to be well prepared for a first time shower! Thank you for all your input and convincing us to take a chinnie!

1. 1 or 2 towels (to put on your lap while grooming)
2. 1 lint roller
3. 1 rough grooming comb
4. 1 finer detail comb
5. tweezers
6. paper or plastic bag
7. chinchillas pedigree (birth date, color, ranch number are all you need)
8. A notebook of some kind and a pen
9. A camera

That's a list I compiled a while ago. Obviously, if you don't have the combs for your first couple of shows, it's fine because there are ALWAYS people there that can help you out! ;) The tweezers and lint roller aren't as important either as most of the members will have those in their grooming kit and they can be borrowed.

And of course, the obvious. If you are planning on coming to the show on Friday night or staying overnight at all, bring hay, pellets and a small water bottle for your boy and some newspaper for under his cage. If you are just coming the day of the show, this stuff isn't necessary.

Great thank you so much! One more dumb question, the ebony male I am taking is ear tagged from his original breeder however the lady I received him from lost his paper work.. Can I still show him? He is three and half years old, or do I have to have one with proper paper work? I do not have the combs yet but after this learning show I will figure out what I need. However the rest is easy. Thanks again! (sorry for all the questions)

That shouldn't be a problem. Do you have his date of birth or an approximate age? The main things we need for the show are age, color, gender, and if they were bred by you or not. We don't need their exact number or anything like that. Especially since this is a field day and mostly in place as a learning experience for everyone. ;)
