I noticed yesterday that Gary had a few drops of blood (or what looked like blood) on one of his platforms in his cage. He has been acting completely normal and doesn't seem like he has any pain anywhere in his body. The blood is near the area that he jumps to from the neighboring lower platform. Is it possible he got scraped from the wood and just had a drop or 2 of blood? Or should I be more worried that he could have peed a little bit and that he's peeing blood? I changed his bedding yesterday and his pee corner looked normal and I haven't seen any blood anywhere on him or in his cage. Please help, I dont want to downplay it if something serious could be going on.

Sometimes their pee looks like blood, maybe he just dribbled. Was it real dark or just kinda dark watery orange?

He could have injured a paw pad and had some blood come from a small wound. That happens quite a bit in pet cages. Normally it isn't a big deal but you need to keep a close eye on Gary. If you can, look over his feet and toes for any scratches or wounds. Watch any wounds you find on a daily basis to make sure they are healing.

Or, it could be the pee like shooper said. Sometimes the chins make darker, more condensed urine if they aren't drinking as much water. It can look reddish or rusty.

Thanks ladies for the input. Its very possible he isn't gettng enough water. I just bought him a new bottle and I said from the getgo that it doesn't seem like its letting enough water out. But I'll keep an eye n get a new water bottle if needed.

It isn't necessarily that he isn't getting enough water, sometimes the urine is dark regardless of the chin getting enough or not.

Still, if you don't think he is getting enough water, try another bottle. I've had bottles that definitely do not let enough water drip through and have had to get a new one.
