Earlier I heard one of my chins making weird low grunting squeaks so I went to go check on him. He was laying on his side in his house twitching and making those squeaks. I poked him and he jumped right up and acted like his normal self, even took a treat from me with no hesitation. We keep our apartment at 70 degrees and the chins' cages are directly in front of an AC vent so they're properly chilled all the time so I don't think he was overheating.

So, was he sleeping and having an intense dream about running or was he having a seizure? If he was seizing I don't think he'd snap out of it from being poked so I'm sorta leaning toward him dreaming but I'm still worried about the little guy.

I'd take him to the vet, but a) it's 7 on a Friday night so only e-vets are open ($$$), and b) the closest exotic vet is over an hour away. If it sounds like something that can't wait till after the weekend I'll pay for an e-vet though.

Sounds like he was having a bad dream. As you said, I don't believe he would have jumped up and immediately behaved normally if it was a seizure. By the way, the cage should NOT be directly in front of the AC

I'd say dreaming..

You know when something has a seizure and it doesn't matter if you have never seen one before. It's a terrifying experience for spectators, and from what my co-worker tells me not so much fun for the seizuree. He had one in his sleep a few weeks ago and woke up in the hospital. So I am going to guess based on that and seeing awake chins seize that if your fellow had one he definitely would not have hopped right up and took off.

I have a picture of a seizing chin here. They go completely stiff and unlike humans I have never seen one lash out.

By directly in front of the AC i mean there's an AC vent up near the ceiling and the flow of air goes right through their cages. It's not like, right up against the cage.

He seems fine now, he was just sleeping REALLY soundly I guess.

I moved my chinchillas to a new room about a year and a half ago. When I positioned the cages, I totally forgot to check if they were near an AC vent. Well, the vent was on the ceiling above the cage. It blew into the cage cages. My best male ended up with pneumonia due lack of forethought. I lost him about 2 weeks later. Please move your chins' cage out of the airflow from the AC.

if they cant get away from the air flow coming from the AC, they can also get very stressed. PLZ move their cage away:) If it every gets to hot, you can just put a cold peice of granite in their and they would lay on it to cool down. but having an AC so close the cage is a bad idea.
