This meeting will be for Breeders, Pet Owners or for ANYONE who is interested in learning more about chinchillas!

We will be making plans for a possible Southeast Empress Show in the Fall of this year!!

I will announce the exact address of the meeting location ASAP!

Our ECBC Southeast Unit Meeting we will held in a cabin located at 187 Ber Weg; which is located in downtown Helen, GA. The lady described it to me as being directly behind Paul's Steakhouse.

Is there a charge for the sessions, or do we just need to plan lodging and food? Will they bring supplies if we order them? Is this just the one day? What time will it be done?

If you know somebody that will be attending that sells supplies, you can probably contact them to see if they will bring them with them. I usually do that when the shows are in Rock Hill, it saves me a bunch on shipping. I've purchased a chin from Janice and her husband is making me a 4 chin carrier cage which I'll be getting from them when I go. There is not a charge for the meeting, but you will be responsible for your food and lodging.

If you are not already a member of Empress, we will be recruiting members. You get discounted rates when you enter your chins in Empress shows and newsletters (small magazine) with all kinds of helpful information (I can't remember how often it comes out).

I don't know how long the meeting will last. You can probably leave whenever you wish, I plan on staying that Saturday night so that I don't miss a thing that the Shoots have to say!!!

10:30 - 11:30AM - Officer Meeting - Unit business - Open to all interested.

11:30 - 12:00PM - Break for Lunch Preparation

12:00 - 1:30PM - Lunch at the Cabin. This is for everyone! This will be a "Pot Luck/Covered Dish" lunch. Please PM me about what you can bring so we can coordinate the menu.

1:30 - 3:00PM - Open Eduational meeting with Ralph & Barbara Shoots.

3:00 - 3:30PM - Afternoon Break

3:30 - 5:00PM - Continued of educational meeting with the Shoots.

This is an tentative schedule of the days event. However, the entire meeting is very informal and times may not be exact. I am posting this to give everyone an idea of the day's events so that all thinking of attending can plan accordingly.

Also, for those of you who haven't been to Helen before, it is a very fun place. I have been there a couple times on vacation. So if you are coming from far away, perhaps you could make a little trip out of it.

ECBC Southeast Meeting Accomodations!!

Attention to Everyone planning to come to the June 6th ECBC Southeast Meeting in Helen, GA......
For those of you who plan to stay overnight in Helen for the meeting, we are advising everyone to make arrangements for accomodations ASAP. We have heard that many of the hotels are booked full and some only have a few rooms left.

As we have announced, the meeting will be held in a cabin located downtown Helen. It is a beautiful cabin fully equipped with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. We have the cabin reserved for two nights. Until recently, all of the rooms were reserved. However, a cancellation has opened up one of the rooms. If you are interested in staying in the cabin with the Unit Officers and the Shoots, there is a room available. You will get a full bedroom to yourself with a queen size bed and full use of the cabin facilities. If you would like to take a look at the cabin; here is the link:

Wow - Nice cabin, but really pricey for most people I'd bet.

Would you folks be able to give a list of local hotels for people to call? If someone is unfamiliar with the area, it might encourage them to come if they had some help in finding less expensive accomodations. I know there are lots of people who would hate to pass up on a chance at a good educational seminar.

If someone wants to come and stay just that Friday night, its open. I was trying to find someone to take both nights if it would be easier, but it seems that no one will be staying. I've already paid for Saturday night but just can not make it until early Saturday morning, thus Friday night is open. I can't get off of work and I honestly can't afford Friday if I'm not going to be there - so if you decide to come in Friday and maybe leave after the meeting Saturday - theres an opening! Let Janice know.
