Attention!!! Empress southeast unit meeting

Yeah!!!!! The Meeting weekend is coming!! :bliss:

I talked with the lady from the cabin rental company....this weekend is a HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL!!! She said that the balloons hover above the town and that it is a beautiful sight.


If any of you want to contribute food for lunch....please email or PM me with what you will be bringing.

So far we have drinks, tuna salad w/crackers, chicken wings or fingers, cole slaw, chocolate cake, cookies, and possibly hot dogs. There is a grill at the cabin so we can cook out!

I need to know a count so we can purchase hot dogs and buns! So please let me know before Friday morning!!

Ugh I can't wait, I'm gonna get some great pictures. Just picked up the supplies to make my famous chocolate cake tonite, yum yum. No one else has decided to come?

I was thinking about a few of us hoping up in the ballons and taking a ride, until I just read its $300 per person. Wow.

The meeting

It was such a WONDERFUL MEETING!!!!

I really enjoyed my self, it was so great meeting all new friends who I have not got to see in person before. And the learning was great...
I can not wait till the next one!!! I had such a GREAT TIME and am so excited for the next one. :thumbsup:

It was great getting to meet new people! I just made it home about an hour ago and got my new chins from Ralph situated. I'm so pooped and have so much to do, whew. Next meeting in September!

There is going to be another meeting in Sept? Yippeee!! Any dates yet? I am going to plan on going to this one for sure. Yesterday just didn't work out for us here.

No dates set as of yet. We're working on finding a suitable place for the next meeting to discuss a possible show/field day later in the year.

I would like to thank everyone for coming, donating food, and participating in the June 6th, 2009 Southern Unit of Ohio Branch ECBC meeting. We had a great time making new friends, learning, and socializing. It was a total success!

We want to send out a special thank you to Ralph and Barbara Shoots for coming from Ohio to help organize and educate us. Barbara shared her guidelines and instructions on making a successful unit and Ralph gave a great round table discussion with demonstrations on chinchilla grooming techniques, ear tagging, and swabbing. Very informative and inspiring!

We elected and approved officers: Janice Barrett – President (from SC), Tiffany Yarboro – Vice President (from NC), Cheryl Sanders – Secretary (from AL) and Louise Meadows – Treasurer (from GA).

At our meeting there were 7 states represented including the Shoots from Ohio. There were a total of 14 people in attendance interested in becoming members with an additional 4 visitors plus Ralph and Barbara Shoots.

We will be having our next meeting in late September. The destination and time have not been determined as of yet. There will be another educational session at this meeting so make plans to attend. We will be finalizing plans as soon as possible and post back here when they are complete.

Congrats on having a great meeting Janice. What a beautiful place to stay in to. I don't know very many of the people, but look forward to meeting them at a Southeast Unit of Ohio show someday.

Hopefully, you and Bob will come be the guest speakers at one of our meetings in the future. We will, of course, have an educational section at each of the meetings.

One thing we did change at this meeting was our "official" unit name. Barbara brought up the fact that there were some confusions between the names of the Southeast Coastal MCBA Chapter and the Southeast Unit of the Ohio Branch ECBC....we wanted to clarify the overall states' locations. So...now we will be known as the: "Southern Unit of the Ohio Branch ECBC".

An impressive name, I think!! :thumbsup:
