We are making a list to go to the petstore tomorrow to get some new stuff for Blossom and Scooter. Hopefully i haven't missed anything and if i have please let me know.

Midwest Critter Nation Habitat(this one looks better then FN 142)
Oxbow Western Timothy Hay
Carefresh Pet Bedding and Litter
Oxbow Timothy Tunnel
Super Pet Apple Orchard Sticks(not sure if these are good or not)
Gnawsome Hut
Vitakraft Chinchilla Calcium Stick
Oxbow Chinchilla Deluxe Food

Skip the calcium stick, with them being on a good food (Oxbow) there's no need for any vitamin supplementation.

Do you have a water bottle already? Many times in the bird section they carry a glass waterbottle by Lixit, and those are the ones I like best.

Then just something to hold the hay and food.

Do you have ledges for them already? You can guy wooden ones at the petstore called Leap-N-Ledges, they're more expensive than making your own, but it works if you don't have tools to make some.

Also some hanging toys would be nice. Sometimes you can find good ones in the bird section. Just make sure they're hung on chain and are all wood. No cotton rope, rawhide or plastic.

ok i will take that off the list. We do have two water bottles but i will try the glass water bottle and see if they like that one better. We have two food dishes for them and they have a hay ball that i will put on the list too. We have one ledge but will probably have to get a couple other ones for both the cages. My husband is pretty good at making things like this but i will have to see if they have a link here for safe woods for them. I will check into that as well.

Most people make their shelves out of kiln dried white pine. It's the easiest to find (Lowes, Home Depot, etc) and really cheap. In the DIY sticky on the top of the housing forum there's a link for how to make shelves and ledges. It's really easy.

Yeah I second that about the hay balls. Unfortunately there are no good hay holders in pet stores. You can get fleece hay bags or boxes from lots of users on here. I get my hay boxes from Carise on chincessories. I love them

Gnawsome Hut
Vitakraft Chinchilla Calcium Stick

I would not get either of these. If that's the hut I'm thinking about anyway it's made of sawdust and sugar... but it may be different

I think this is the hut the OP is talking about. I might be wrong but this is what came to my mind when I read it.

I thought the gnawsome hut looked pretty cool, but it didn't come large enough for a single chin much less both of my boys. That chinchilla box is nice because it all slides together, but I wish they made them bigger. Granted, my boys are more interested sitting ON their house rather than IN their house.

That is the hut i was thinking of.

Nope i didn't like that brown hut one. It just looked weird. I like that second one. I was thinking of that one as well.

Scooter sits on his house but blossom doesn't really go anywhere near her house she would rather sleep on the board or on the ground of her cage.

chins are curious and chew everything so I'd nix the carefresh litter. Go with either pine shavings or look into fleece liners!

Alfalfa cubes. They sell them at the pet store but they're ridiculously priced! You can get them at Tractor Supply in a big bag! Don't forget dust. Not sure if you had that on your list. And a dust bath.

not something you buy but you need a play area. I'd skip the pre-made play pens and spend the money on cardboard panels to tape together. I spent $$ on 24" by 4' panels and used strapping tape to tepe them togther (it folds up like an accordian for storage). But my boys learned to jump over 4 feet high so I ordered more cardboard 24" x 6' and use that in areas they jump out. If you look at the hight on the animal pens they are 29" max and most chins can jump that easilly - that's why I gave my (12 panel, 29" hight pen with bottom and cover) away top a bunny owner after spending $$$$ on it. w/o the cover the chins jumped out... with the cover they thought it was jail
