It varies from chin to chin. Some appear to be full grown at maybe 9 months to a year and others won't reach their full size until they are maybe a year and a half to two years old. By two, the chin is definitely full grown...but chins are like people, sometimes they stop growing at an earlier age than others or continue to grow until a much older age.

ok well if it's that broad a spectrum how will i know when i'm supposed to get her more exercise...other posters have said that they don't need a lot of exercise while they're growing...at what point do i switch her to adult status and get her out there burning her calories

Well, sorry to disappoint you with my response.

I'd say that once a chin is 6 to 7 months old you don't have to worry all that much about timing playtimes. Very young chins can have problems with longer playtimes because they can easily become hypoglycemic when their blood sugar drops from the activity. At around five to six months the chin's body can tolerate the playtime much more without as much of a drop in blood sugar.

I'm not sure why you are worried about the chin burning calories. Most chins will eat more if they are very active to make up for it.

it was just something people were saying in other posts that the babies needed to conserve their calories so they can use them to grow...i'm glad you mentioned the hypoglycemic thing...one time when i was playing with my girl for awhile when she got put back in her cage she just flopped down and went to sleep immediately like she was exhausted
