Here are a couple of images from the other night. How does she look to you?

She is on her new diet with supplements now. We had some loose stool initially, but that went away after a couple of days of acidophilus. Life seems good for now.

New pic of Rose. In just a couple of days she will be 2 months post op, and her fur has fully grown back in.

She used to have pretty dry skin, and that actually has cleared up since going on her cancer diet. So hopefully that means her body is functioning well and also fighting that cancer.

I just love Rose! She is so beautiful! I'm so happy she is doing well, Jules--what a great fighter this gal is!

Nancy, I've been a little hesitant to post her diet. I'm always afraid someone will see it and think its ok for a normal hedgehog. So my disclaimer: I had long talks with doc regarding nutrition and cancer. If you want to try this with a cancer patient, discuss it with your vet first. Each cancer and each hedgehog is different.

Right now her kibble consists of: Katz-n-floken, Felidae Platinum, By Nature Weight Management(Chicken, Salmon & Duck) and Innova Evo Weight Control. Evo was added to lower her carb intake, and to raise her protein/fat intake. She also gets a small amount of vegetables and fruits and insects.

Doc also suggested adding arginine, l-lysine, and salmon oil to her daily diet. I was already giving her some supplements before for joint support, digestive health, etc. So, she also gets a daily sprinkle of acidolphilus, IP6 and cartilage supplements.

I have read lots of interesting things about some of these supplements in regards to cancer, too much to add to this posting.

Well, just a few days before our next monthly anniversary we found a new mass. This one is inoperable. Rose is continuing to look good and act well. Her appetite is as good as ever and her weight is holding steady. We are continuing to use the nutritional plan mentioned above and are also adding a couple of new meds to her palliative care. She will begin taking benedryl to help reduce reaction to histamines being released from the tumor and cimetidine.

Cimetidine is an interesting drug. Its brand name is tagamet, and is a common heartburn medication. It also has some good anti-cancer properties. So hopefully it will help her out.

OH NO!!! Not another lump. Poor Rose. Hopefully the new meds will give her some quality time. Hugs to you both.

Oh goodness :( I sure hope the cimetidine and benedryl help (on top of everything else)!
Glad to hear she remains a good eater.
