Yep! lol...can't believe I didn't copy that part in there! Oh, the joys of sleep deprivation!

I should be able to make this one, :dance3: now that things have settled down. lol I missed everyone!!

I'm hoping to finally make a show. I've put it on my calendar and arranged with the person that usually schedules something that conflicts with the show to have it a different weekend. Barring any unforeseen complications, I will be there. Fingers crossed.

I hope you can make it. If you want you can drive to my house then I'll drive from there.

Yay, it will be nice to finally meet you!

Although I am not a breeder, I really want to go see what a show is like. Also, I havent been to Frazier Park in forever, but I know some people who live there, so that could be fun.

Also, I do not know if this is appropriate (so if it isnt, please let me know kindly) but I have been researching breeders in CA and was wondering if there was a chinchilla I wanted to buy from any of you breeders here in CA, would the breeder usually be willing to bring the chin to the show? Would this cost extra? I know that I would most likely have to put down a deposit first in order to have a breeder bring the extra chin, but is there an extra cost for travel or anything?

Since some of the areas breeders are located in are way far away from me (I live in San Luis Obispo), I think meeting at a show would be alright, but you guys are the experts so please let me know how that works
:thanks4:

Anyone can come to the shows so you are MORE than welcome to come and be a spectator or even help if you'd like!

All the breeders will bring a specific chin you are interested in to the show. I don't charge a transportation fee and I'm not sure I know anyone else who does. The logic behind it is that we were going to be at the show anyhow so we aren't going out of our way to meet up with the buyer. Just message whatever breeder it is that has the chin you are interested in and ask! We don't bite!:innocent:

For the field days, we normally finish in the early afternoon (1-2ish).

I will be driving down I-5 if you would like to carpool with me. However, be warned, I am leaving early Saturday morning (4 am) from Manteca! :) I am also picking up someone else who will be carpooling with me in Modesto. I expect to be back to Manteca around 7 pm or so. Send me a PM if you'd like to join. I'm borrowing my mom's Pilot so there will be plenty of room if you will also be bringing animals. I am planning on bringing about 10 chins.

Is anyone planning on staying with Rod and Donna on Friday or Saturday night or both nights? If so please let me know. Donna had an accident and hurt herself. If you're staying with her please either let me know or contact Pam Oldham at [email protected] and let her know you will be there so that she can plan accordingly for food.

Also, there will now be sandwiches, sodas and chips for a lunch at the show. This way no one has to run around and we don't have to worry about people being missing when we start over from the lunch break. We're still talking price but depending on what it costs it should be about $2 to $4 per person, will let you know when we have it figured out. ;)

The field day will be here before you know it! I hope everyone is dusting their chins into shape. ;)

I will be bringing some things to sell (toys, hay/pellet combo feeders w/screened bottoms, coop cups, hay racks). If there is anyone who needs me to bring anything in particular, please let me know!

I also have a few chins available for sale and I can bring any of them with me to the show. Please contact me for more information.

If anyone will be headed down through my area, I have a couple chins I would like to send down <3 would be willing to help with your travel fees ect. I'm unable to attend shows till my dog (and MOM!!!) are once again leveled out on their meds and doggy gets his new tests done :D

So I'm hoping that I can make it to this show as a first time spectator. But what exactly goes on at a show? Sorry for the noobish question, still learning here ;)

It's basically a beauty contest. Each exhibitor will groom their chinchillas to get them looking their fluffiest and best. Then the chins all go into show cages and are given their own specific number for that show. The chinchillas are then separated into class by color. Whites in one group, Blacks in one group, and so on (ECBC and MCBA have slightly different rules but this is how ECBC separates classes). Then the standards are separated into a five to ten class system depending on the amount of standards at the show. Then everyone gets judged in their classes under the show lights. It's a very interesting process to watch but if you're just spectating try to sit next to someone who's been to shows before so that you can ask a lot of questions. It makes the whole experience a lot more fun.

Sounds like fun! Especially being surrounded with so many chins. I just hope whoever that person might be that I end up sitting next to isn't going to think I'm asking too many questions lol.
