SPAM - love it or loath it?

Spam fried with potatoes (or over a campfire) is the only way I can even eat it....but bacon and potatoes is so much better. I can't stand the way it looks...so I don't bother anymore...it was only cute when we were kids.

Just when I think I've got things going well..

My chins won't dust when nervous. Someone new was in the room the other day and they wouldn't dust. They are used to a very quiet apartment and only myself and my BF. They are nervous around anyone else. It didn't take long for them to get like that either. They would dust around anyone for the...

    A chinny in need

The local Petland (big chain puppy selling pet store) just closed here after a couple months of picketers out on the street (with Petland Kills and Petland uses Puppy Mills signs). And it was always fairly clean, cool, and somewhat acceptable in there. They had there issues, of course, and one...

    I'm bummed...our summer as a family over...

Wow, I wish my mom had ever thought of Summer that way. She had to work and I sat around. Then she would come home and gripe that I didn't do the dishes. No one ever (any time of the year) was concerned if I was having fun or not...especially while they had to work. Sorry for the vent...sucky...

I find it odd that the pic of the chin on the jar hasn't dusted in a while!

    Richardson's Ground Squirrel Help

Sorry, missed edit time. A local zoo may benefit in using him for their educational programs...they probably have several RGS if they are native to the area. There are none here in Texas. Being a tame ground squirrel isn't as bad as a tree squirrel....they are not near as powerful or agile...

    Richardson's Ground Squirrel Help

I have had an RGS and there is incredibly little info on them. It's care would be more like a chinny and less like a tree squirrel, except they don't jump. And they have cheek pouches. Rereleasing would be the best bet unless your he has some land of his own. If he does choose to take it home...

    Advice for my daughter?

And also remember, you are the only one she can vent to so you're getting ALL the venting, ya know? Yes, there isn't much to say about something that was fun other than it was fun. Kids that age have eagle eyes for unfairness and bad/boring times...and that's all that they mention. Ask her...

    A chinny in need

People like that should be kept in cages and conditions just like they keep their animals. Put a fur coat on them, put in them in a plastic box by a hot window, and suggest someone pay you 160 thousand dollars to set them free.

    Advice for my daughter?

Well...it doesn't sound good...but your child may have had plenty of fun at times, but those other times got her attention more. It's not easy or likely to go for 6 weeks and fill it jam packed with fun (too expensive). Staying with family is what made it possible it sounds like. Relatives of...

    Blue Cloud at Petsmart

I was surprised today to see a jar of Blue Cloud Dust at Petsmart! It was distributed by Lixit. It was 3lbs for 10 dollars. It had a sign that said "new at petsmart"." I screwed off the lid and it wasn't sealed...booooo. It felt a little rough but that may have been settling. Is this the...

    live camera

I thought of that, but I would likely have it pointed to their temp gauge...it is more important I know if the A/C goes out here in Texas than watch them sleep.

    Dallas, Texas Vets?????????

The e-vet's wife is the hot shot from A & M, but she doesn't work here. He was a jerk and reamed me for referencing this forum, but he was fairly competent. I did NOT have good experiences at Dr. Moore's which is the regular vet down the street from that. Their A/C didn't work on top of that...

How can one chin make so many poos?

Yes, I hope it wasn't 85 inside! That's funny though....85 outside is cool here....we get in the 100's! But it is 65 degrees in my apt. Yes, the poops are everywhere...they are eternal. But I have learned quickly to appreciate them...there were times when there was not enough of them and that...

Clinical Anatomy, Radiography, and Computed Tomography of the Chinchilla Skull

Awesome article. It sites a lot from this book: http://www.amazon.com/Radiology-Rodents-Rabbits-Ferrets-Positioning/dp/0721697895/ref=rsl_mainw_dpl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER I got to look at this book at my vet's office. My vet interned with the author of this book, Lisa Tell. Dr. Tell was Dr...

    Dallas, Texas Vets?????????

My new vet is pretty knowledgeable. Not amazing, but not an idiot. She works at Carrollton West Pet Hospital. She is one of 6 or so people that have been trained in chins in the state by vet experts at A&M. The only thing annoying is that she doesn't think Baytril causes them to go off their...

    ringworm and tresaderm? bad vet?

I got so tired of that crap. I had 4 or 5 vets treat me like that before finding a decent one. Find a way to get to another vet and hope for less BS. Good luck!

    Cage Cleaner Discovery

Eucalyptus is toxic. as little as 4mL of oil can kill a child. Koalas are so inactive because they use all of their energy digesting the stuff.
