I usually recommend the Leo Braun wheels over the flying saucers. Alot of my customers seem to like the leo Brauns.

You can feed them along side your Mazuri pellets. I'm sure the chin would like them. I thought about trying out timothy hay pellets sold at the Tractor Supply store instead of giving hay cubes. Would be not as messy as loose hay.

Fungus would not cause a toe to need amputation. An infection certainly would though. Did he/she get it caught on something? Amputations are no big deal. Just make sure you keep it clean afterwords. They heal pretty quickly.

We keep ours at around 55 degrees in the winter and no hotter than 72 in the summer. At 72 I see them start to lie around more and back off on their feed. Right now they are quite content. I doubt his biting you has anything to do with the cold. He was probably just annoyed or frightened...

If a chin is not groomed they can develop mats. I see it more on heavier/lazy animals that don't groom themselves. All it is is dead fur that clumped together. I usually give a little tug on those and they come right out.

Narcissus is correct. Most chinchillas will have giardia. The only times it becomes a problem is when an animal is stressed/sick then the numbers can get out of hand.

we free feed Manna Pro Pro here. I go through about 2.5 bags in 1 month for 60 chins. Chins eat their poo. Don't worry about a little poo in their food dish.
