Hey all, since I've had Meeko he's had a few strange little mats on his back. They almost look like little cowlicks. I've tried to brush them or separate them with my fingers, but there hasn't been any change. Anyone else seen these on their kids?

If a chin is not groomed they can develop mats. I see it more on heavier/lazy animals that don't groom themselves. All it is is dead fur that clumped together. I usually give a little tug on those and they come right out.

Some chins will have mats occasionally, nothing to worry about. Just make sure he gets a dust bath 2-3 times per week :) If he is actually missing hair (like bald spots) that's the only time you need to worry.
